I was in Delaware enjoying a dove hunt and my friend heard me talk about getting another dog. My heart was set on a female lab, but he insisted that a Chessie is better ( You all know there is a difference? ) So we argue, about which is better, and the point came up "if you never owned a Chessie how can you judge?" Well, long story short, I'd like to introduce to you, Chance.

I named him Chance because I'm taking a big chance with him, and felt it was appropriate. Also, when he gets fat I can call him "Fat Chance" when he's thin "Slim Chance" ....

Nice looking pup AND since he'll chew on Dove feathers it a pretty GOOD CHANCE he's going to grow into a find hunting partner.

Take care,

Ed L.

Isn't that the truth! I came home from elk hunting and unloaded my stuff in the driveway. Before I even had it all unloaded my chessie pee'd on it. Take THAT, and don't ever leave me home again!!

Lee, that was my test I fired over 25-20ga rounds and Chance sat and slept most of the morning (like babies) He's 8 weeks old in the picture.

Ed, He first barked at the doves, then realized FEATHERS! It was cool. I should mention that he didn't retrieve any bird, but that wasn't a issue-- it's all about play for this age.

I'm excited that I have the challenge to train a dog again. Some say Chessie's are usually strong willed and thickheaded, but with some luck I just want a good hunting dog.

Oh No, What did I get myself into?? Pee on my stuff--- don't tell the wife she'll have me put down new floors.

Dang! I want one real bad. Problem is I have a 10 year old beagle/brittney mutt with lots of "cute" bad behavior she would be happy to pass onto a new pup. A good dog is great for breaking in a new pup, a bad dog.... She isn't bad, it's just if she was bigger it would be unaccepatable behavior. Sleeping on the bed, jumping at the door, begging for food... It's not fair to make her change at this point in life.

Congrats on the pup.

Gene

SWEET !
I'm glad to see you get another pup.

Sure looking forward to more pictures over the next year so we can watch him develop.

Very best,
Scott

Welcome to the club! Labs are great dogs but after experiencing all the extra "personality" you wont be able to go back.

Thanks Guys,

His looks are helping me convince the wife that he'll be house broken soon. Fortunately, with having three kids, retaining gate where readily available. I made the mistake of giving him the run of the house, and just couldn't keep up with him.

My kids are loving the pup. My youngest still shows some fear, but he loves Chance and understands that nipping is what teething pups do. I'm watching how the kids and Chance behave and so far it's all good.

Those little canines are sharp! He's starting to chew his toys and lick us (most of the time).

It's funny how I've been recharge with Chance around. When I showed him the goose, he barked showed some fear and then cautiously came over to see me clean this goose. Next tHing I noticed, he was into the bird and I couldn't get him away.

Oh, by the way, for those guys who are single and trying to meet girls.... get a 4 year old kid and a chessie pup and go to the mall. My son had more girls come up to him in 10 minutes then I had in all my dating years.
