New Predator BBSB Sneak boat (formerly the Chuck Huff BBSB) info

I've been spending hours on each photo trying to figure out just where I'd drill out a sculling oar port...I know I could scull that bugger!!!! Sacrilege or evolution? -Seth

I think having the rails on the topside will prevent an inadverdent fracture from a heavyweight hunter stepping on one getting in or out of the boat. Looks great!

Ron, a very valuable bit of info here. And why I enjoy sharing our process and build because something as simple as this comment helps us make the right decisions going forward. Until the dodgers are done and we can get this baby wet with some test runs. We are done with this build.

Gee, Tony, that is what I thought my initial comments were directed at...improving the design and functionality the boat. I don't like to waste time grassing-in a hull to only watch that effort fall out when underway.

I wonder why they were misconstrued?

I never said that the build was objectionable. I simply feel that Tony should keep his pricing off the pages of the forum. If someone request a price he should simply respond "PM sent". That is the way others on the site do it and all should play by the same rules.

Shawn, What's wrong with sharing pricing when asked? I was certainly curious, although definitely not in the market, I prefer and have an aluminum sneak boat. As long as the posts are of the build I'm unoffended by seeing a dollar figure, especially by the 60th post and in reply to a request.

Tony, Thank you for sharing the build, I enjoy seeing the process and the effort you put into your boats. I live in a world where upper management is all into cost reduction/cheapening and out sourcing the product. It does my heart good to see someone doing it right.

Scott

The problem is that this is supposed to be a site for people interested in boat building not a marketplace at least that's what the rules say. If you are curious about the business end of a poster contact them directly or go look on their website. In the past people have been asked to take down commercial post or forcibly removed from the site.

Ah shit, y'all give it a rest already.

If there was a real issue here, Chuck or Eric (the moderator & owner of this site )would have taken action.

I understand where you are coming from. I've been here a long time and the commercial posters come and go. Guys come here to get a carving career going and once they are sustaining themselves with orders, they fade away. Boat builders come here and show and talk up there wares and they either fade away, go out of business or get chased off, like the carvers. They provide some entertainment for us and it is generally interesting. No doubt in my mind that Tony is advertising here, as many have done in the past. Any of us that puts up posts here knows how much work it is to pot up the pics and text and respond to questions. Tony seldom posts in any other thread there other than to comment on his competitors or show (sell) what he is developing. No biggie, lot of good boats out there - good boats sell themselves.

just logging in here or buying a sponsorship doesn't make the community, guys helping others out and communicating about what they love does. Carvers sending patterns to guys just starting out... taking the time to explain the color mix for a widgeon breast... explaining aspects of construction... how to do this, or that and why... Plenty of guys here doing that stuff and have been for a long time. Those that take the time to explain something vs those that give an incomplete answer just to have something to post...

No biggie, history will tell each of our story...

Shawn, this has been a very informative and interesting thread (to the point that is tagged it to notify me when a post is made) I'm getting tired of being notified of a new post only to find out that it is just you complaining AGAIN that someone asked a price. I don't think Tony did anything wrong as all he did was answer the question with a ballpark price. The boat is not done so it is not on his site yet so you cant get the info there. It appears that you have a bone to pick and YOU are not coming across real well in the process of doing it.

Tony, I think you already are but just continue to ignore the two people who seem set on turning a great thread into a pissing match. I for one, hope to see some more photos with the finished dodger and see what all you do in the testing phase. I find it just as interesting to see what goes into the building of a production boat as I do to watch a home built boat.

All i can say is wow.... Same clicky atmostphere as some of the other forums. I am done posting. Not worth seeing the responses and getting aggravated. People just seem to argue and complain about everything. So much for a peaceful place to relax and enjoy post about duckboats and duckboat building.

This is a forum. I am entitled to my option. When I am no longer allowed to voice my opinion I will give it a rest till then....bite me!

I think Tod summed it up pretty well. I do not make my own decoys nor build boats, but I have enjoyed this forum nevertheless because of the experiences and knowledge that members share here. I would rather have builders share with us than have them treat everything as a trade secret.
Our wise moderators are doing a fine job of balancing info sharing against commercial promotion and I have no complaints.
