New project box I'd as Bill Simonsen. Restoration pics as I go.

Can you tell me the reason for using fiberglass, kevlar and also dynel? Do those different materials have different properties/uses??

Fiberglass - General purpose, clear, does everything pretty well, inexpensive.
Dynel - Soaks up a lot of epoxy making it tough and abrasion resistant but a little heavier, white or cloudy in color, inexpensive.
Kevlar - Very strong, abrasion resistant, lightweight. Black in color. Difficult to sand or fair. Expensive.

That is a fine boat William and will serve you well. The Bill Simonson sneakbox was always my favorite boat. I wish I had bought as sailng box from him before he passed away.

Good morning, William~

Sweet vessel - and fine workmanship!

I'm thinking my eye is catching some Wildfowler Blacks in the cockpit. They look like original paint. Point Pleasant birds - or earlier?

All the best,

Thanks Steve. I really do like the lines he made a very nice boat. Still not sure if I am gonna plywood the deck might do cedar planks. Good eye on the decoys. I do not know if they are original paint but they are point pleasant wildfowlers.

I hope so. It certainly looks to be a pretty seaworthy hull. Deeper then most and a bit wider. I am happy I posted it because that trunk would have been gone. But a few guys persuade me to keep it. The trunk is now cedar planks with a small lap joint and some 4200 to seal it up. I reused what was good and had to make a few new parts for it. A few minutes with a hand plane and then I sealed up the bottom with lexan and some silicone. Filled it with water and it held it through the night. I am going to to cut out the trunk slot in the new plank then glass it back with probably a contrasting wood plug. So it can easily be removed and be sailed for someone if I ever part ways with the boat.

William~

Nice treatment for the daggerboard slot - very creative and respectful of the vessel's history.

All the best,

SJS
