O/T: Meme thread

I have to agree with Mr. McCann. Could not have said it better or more precise with out attacking anyone. Thank you Dave.

Let's start getting rid of all the threads on duckboats.net that aren't duck boat related. No dog threads. No hunting threads. No tractor threads. No habitat threads. No bragging about kids threads. No threads over why ducks don't migrate anymore. Nothing outside of duck boats. That'll make everything all better.

Some folks just need something to shake their fists and scream at the sky about.

Nothing kills a web forum more than over-moderating and deleting content because a few inhabitants can't skip past content they aren't interested in. Web forums are a dying breed, and some of y'all prove why.

Only took 13 months for you to get in trouble over the mildest meme thread in the history of meme threads... or at least the ones on duck "related" forums.

Also you guys are paying to see this stuff??

Wow,,,,,, what a less than civil response. Immediately resorting to gross exaggerations, tends to make me believe you have nothing substantial to contribute in a discussion about what has kept this forum the sanctuary it is.

I'm not taking sides here but would like to make some observations about forums in general. Duckboats.net is the first and probably only forum that I have ever felt inclined to join. Is it addictive? I believe so and I eventually realized that my productivity was inversely proportional to the amount of time that I spent on the site.
In regards to memes, I view them as a modern day comic strip. Some days I feel compelled to read the comic section of our local paper while other days I do not. Our society has seemingly lost the ability to laugh at ourselves, hence cancel culture and woke ideology. RM

I don't see ads anywhere.
You do not see ads any where on this site or anywhere in general? Most other sites I personally frequent, either have very prevalent advertising or one pays a yearly "member fee" to participate. The "member fee" here is strictly voluntary. One pays according to their means, ability and inclination to support.
Also you guys are paying to see this stuff??
When I first read this, I was not sure if you were serious. I'm still not sure.

I spend a lot of time here.... only on my work days lol. 12 hour shifts are long and im not always busy so it definitely helps pass time and let me read on things i have an interest in. Addicting for sure since theres such a wealth of knowledge here. Funnies seem alright to me, but up to everyone here if they are appropriate or not. Doesnt bug me one way or the other.

I see that this started a month ago and has 18 reply's and couple thousand views. I think that speaks loudly to me.
Actually thread began 13 months ago (January of 2025). As far as participation, only two memes have been posted by anyone else other than the original poster ( Steven Alexander).

You are very correct, the lack of participation tell us that, "lack of a meme presence" is not going to be the demise of Duckboats.net.

Reminds me of a bunch of HOA board members. Or heated corn pond hunters.

Same could be said for a meme thread being here won't be it's demise, either.

Shake their fists and scream?

Again, not much in the way of a civil debate.
I have nothing against you personally but I will spend no more of my time debating with you. Have a good day.

I'm a member of 1 other forum. I don't see adds there either. I look at both forums in an ad blocker. It's free.

Yes I was serious but I guess kinda tongue in cheek. I figured there was some paid memberships or what have you just like the other forum but I don't subscribe to either.

Y'all do realize this thread would have probably just died for lack of involvement as has already been mentioned if you would have just let it die. There's more posts complaining about it I think than actual memes posted.

Several here, myself included, give Eric a donation to keep this place running. Never in my days would I have suspected anyone could feel so triggered over a thread that they could skim right past, but here we are.

Folks here do not "subscribe". There is no "paid membership". Nothing "free", there is a cost to provide this forum.
AdBlock and Adblock Plus are open-source browser extensions that block ads, pop-ups, and trackers on most browsers. They are supported by donations or, in the case of Adblock Plus, an optional "Acceptable Ads" program and a paid premium version for advanced features

I simply stated my opinion. You on the other hand seem to be the one that is "triggered" by another member voicing an opinion. Yet here we are. I am truly sorry my opinion offended you. It was not a personal attack. Perhaps the thread will die from lack of participation or the forum will die from lack of memes.

A 13 month old thread that up until 2 weeks ago had what 15 posts?

I don't give money here or the fuge, guess I'm the cheapskate/bad guy.
