O/T: Meme thread

Folks here do not "subscribe". There is no "paid membership". Nothing "free", there is a cost to provide this forum.
AdBlock and Adblock Plus are open-source browser extensions that block ads, pop-ups, and trackers on most browsers. They are supported by donations or, in the case of Adblock Plus, an optional "Acceptable Ads" program and a paid premium version for advanced features
I used subscribe and membership because I didn't know what word to use at the moment. Feel free to replace with whatever word you deem appropriate.

I don't pay a dime for any of it so to me it is free.

The cartoons of the 50's and 60's inspired me to begin drawing and painting because they were so well done, especially Popeye. I still look forward to the "funny papers" that are still in some newspapers on weekends. In fact TCM recently had the Warner Bros. (originally from Newcastle, PA) first Loony Tunes, Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd, Daffy Duck, and others. I could see where some might consider Meme's cartoons though many are photos with captions.

I simply stated my opinion. You on the other hand seem to be the one that is "triggered" by another member voicing an opinion. Yet here we are. I am truly sorry my opinion offended you. It was not a personal attack. Perhaps the thread will die from lack of participation or the forum will die from lack of memes.
Not a bit. I rarely get offended by words. I just shake my head and LOL at the folks who sound like they measure their neighbors grass. You gave your opinion, I gave mine. Have a good day.

As the late Lee Harker would have written, "y'all need to take poop."

Time to get back to less controversial things, like ducks, decoys, dogs, owning the correct color dog, habitat manipulation, AHM, season frameworks, spinners, flooded corn and shortstopping.
:p

It actually got pretty heated the last time I remember spinners being discussed. When we as children got cabin fever our mom used to kick us outside. Still works today. RM

Thanks for calling me out, I mean the correction, you grumpy old fart.....
:ROFLMAO:

I miss Travis's long posts about the Earle widgeon.......

Yup. This and one other recent thread suggest we are entering shack nasty season. Gonna be 40 tomorrow. I'm going out to make holes in the ice and get a sunburn. Only in February can I get myself excited about crappies and yellow perch. Maybe some big fat female perch full of roe I can cook in bacon fat for Sunday brunch.

I watch a lot of ice fishing videos this time of year, reminiscing about the good ole days.
Biggest walleye I ever caught was last ice.

Where's the controversy, the answer is clearly black (at least until I get another yellow).
YUP! When i was in the dog world of HRC and AKC and field trials. There were some big players i met, and often the consensus was, you can play the game with any color, but if you want to win you'll play with black. Didnt mean some didnt have another color that would win, but playing the odds, more black dogs won than any other.

My wife is looking semi-seriously into a red lab(she loves the look of the dark reds) puppy as our silver lab ages. Unfortunately I lose out on the lab battle with the wife as she trains them to be therapy dogs that she takes along with her to work everyday. She is an elementary school social worker and her lab works as a calming agent for many of the distraught kids whom she deals with on a daily basis. Thus labs for her purpose must be extremely gently and able to stay calm with screaming kids.

Her lab, too, smart enough to not play the competition thing, they want to perform under real "work" situations. Ha ha

Both of my red British labs have been extremely gentle tempered. My kids climbed all over the first one his whole life, and he ate it up. Screaming kids is a tough situation for some dogs. I'm sure she is experienced with socializing them into that, if she's already experienced it in the past, though.

The dog is a reassurance to the screaming kid and nearly 100% of the time the kid will settle down. Kids do not want to upset the dog--it is quite amazing to watch as I have witnessed this firsthand. Kids dont care to upset teachers, administrators, etc, but do care about upsetting the dog.

Our dog is also used as a reward tool for good behavior/achievements for students at her school and the child who earns this right get to go play fetch with our lab and end up with a picture of them with our dog for their keepsake.

Now I understand why The Fuge has a very strict super-mod enforced no comments policy on the meme thread over there.

Much like a meme, I was attempting to use humor for social commentary. When I was a lad, ass whoopings were commonplace and kids better behaved. We still had dogs but they weren't specifcally for emotional support.
Believe it or not, my brother used to drop his lab off at the retirement home for the same reason. She was quite gentle and did not have a tennis ball fettish that could cause a serious walker incident.
