I and my better half headed down to Jersey today to pick up a load of atlantic white cedar for my "new" adventure into decoy carving. I planned the trip to coincide with the Parkertown Decoy Show. It was a very small show in comparison to an "event" like Westlake, but there were some beautiful decoys and some great people , so all in all a great day. Westlake will be on my schedule next year for sure. While we were there we met Jode Hillman, a great and very helpful guy.The first 4 pics are of Jode and his birds.

Wow they all have a great style but the black ducks really jump out at me. Charlie that is a large pile of cedar and it looks clean. I just called my local mill and told them what I would like for the year but my list included some boat material.

Did you tell your wife how much that all cost?

Good to see you and your wife there Charlie! I bought a few sticks from Ray myself. That turkey was amazing!!!................................Kevin

What great pictures, Charlie. Some of those decoys take your breath away. What artists!
Hope you got the wood you needed.

Charlie, I bought one of those Reitmayer miniatures myself with black duck decoys...so much detail in those little boats...I almost floated it in the bathtub lastnight.....Sean Sutton's and Jode's birds were the highlight for me...It's just great to see all the history in the decoys....Thanks again Jode it was a pleasure talking to you...never found Roy though....Dave

Charlie, It was great to talk to you and your wife. It sounds like you both had a nice weekend. You should have plenty of wood now to get your rig underway.

Kevin, nice to see you and meet your buddy. Your decoys are looking great and have improved exponentially in a short time. That's what happens when you get bit by the carving bug.

Dave, Good to finally talk to you in person and meet you and your Dad. Thanks for the compliments, there were so many great old and new birds there it was hard to take it all in.
That is one thing you miss as a vendor I.E. the opportunity to check out all the neat Vintage items.

Roy came back later, he went out to lunch about the time you were there..................maybe next time!

Here's a couple shots of the Hen in the Turkey woods, hopefully She will be able to fool a Gobbler in a few more weeks.
