nice pics! We are finally getting good looking pintails here now also. Were in the middle of our two week split so all I can do is watch them and shake my fist in anger from time to time at em. I cant wait for it to reopen next week. I was scouting yesterday and saw a ruddy duck swimming with a group of bluebills. I really hope he sticks around. Once again sweet pics. John
STOP, STOP,STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You're killing me! Posting pics like that while siting in the marsh is just cruel Hitch, just plain cruel. Especially considering that it's blowing snow right now and will be below zero tonight.
I want to see some "working decoy with species taken" pictures soon.
1/2" of snow on the ground this a.m. Temps have hit the teens the past two nights with little or no wind, so given the River stage I'd imagine the sloughs have frozen out. Will probably get out Monday and hunt the main stem (Since retirement, I've been avoiding the weekend - rarely see anyone else on weekdays). Been hunting small sets - 8 or so) of frond decoys lately - really like how they move in the slightest breeze.
Saw the first swans on the Bay yesterday. The big ducks have still not arrived here!
All we have is lesser bills and you can only shoot one!!
Great pictures as usual thanks for sharing. John
Just finished loading up. 5 Teal and a Mottled hybrid. I had a nice flock of Wigeon swing a couple times but they were getting dry wacked at nose-bleed, but I think I know where they may set in. Photos are from the Merritt Island Refuge.
Oh and BTW, I've noticed the same thing with the palm frond decoys Bob, the wigeon is the ultimate in real...It's feather light, moves in the slightest breeze and rides perfect.
