Raka Epoxy Sale

Eric-it just so happens I need some epoxy, and I need some help on what I should get an how much. I am putting a new floor deck in my blackjack. I already have the ply wood done, and need enough to put it down in the boat and a few other small spots. Any guidance is helpful, I just don't want to get too much and am unfamiliar with the various types and their use.

@greg setter

I'd guess 6 quarts of the 127 resin with equal amounts of 606 slow and 610 fast hardener will do the job and then some. Until I bought an epoxy dispenser I used the plastic snow cone style pumps from Raka. I never liked pouring into graduated cups but for a small project it would be okay.

Buy the thin epoxy resin (they have thin and thick).

I bought the non-blushing hardener to reduce messing with amine blush, and it has worked well. No idea how it compares to their fast or slow, but working time has been pretty reasonable - starts to heat up after 15-20 minutes in the mid-70s. It is a 2:1 resin to hardener mix ratio.

I've just used graduated cups - best price I found was at US Composites by the sleeve. They also have pretty inexpensive paper mixing cups.

So looking at this to glue up decoys as well as seal the outer surface

Medium or thick on the 350 non blushing ?
Or something else

I had similar questions when I originally ordered. The guys at Raka said medium and thick are really for thicker finishes, like tabletops, and to use thin if tou want it to flow (as with a boat). I'd guess the same for your purposes... but they actually answer the phone there, so safest to call and ask.

Eric,

I took advantage of the deal as well to replenish my supply. I use plastic cups. I get the 2oz. 4oz and 12 oz cups from grocery store and mix 2:1. I also use plastic bowls and plates since the epoxy doesn't adhere and can be reused.
