RE: Obama's lawsuit

Pete,

I'm not sure if I got that but I hope your right. At any rate I renewed my NRA membership last week! I wish I had the money to make it a lifetime membership.

The company I work for won't be around long if this passes!

Lee, you hiring any yardmen? How about Jon? Is Cabelas hiring.....OHHHH MYYYY!

The Republican Party missed the ball completely on this one....it should have been clear from the beginning that America was tired of Bush Politics, tired of a war that wasn't being won and where there were no intentions of winning it, and that they were looking for something different.....WAY THE HELL AND GONE DIFFERENT....

So what happens? A Bush Acoclyte wins the nomination.....and then because of Clinton's success with America's women and minorities they tag Palin for VP.....WHO? we all asked...and then when we found out all we could do was scratch our heads and ask..."why the hell did he pick her"?.....(oh yeah I forgot she was a "LIFE" NRA member and she had shot a moose"---BIG DAMN DEAL many people stated, including a whole lot that hunted and owned guns....

Clearly THATwas a stupid move , at least from my viewpoint and I was desperately looking for a reason to feel good about voting the way I voted, and if McCain and the Republican Party really believed that bringing a woman on board whose only real credentials were that she was a Life NRA Member, had shot a Moose and was claimed by many to be "hot" then he missed the boat by further than a long mile on that one...

So in the end America was left with the prospect of yet another four years of a President that they were SICK OF, (hell even here, in good old Republican land, there were MANY-hell MOST-that said they had lost faith in Bush AND the Republican Party), because in their minds McCain was just an older version of Bush and they wanted nothing to do with it...NOTHING....

Increases in fuel and food and everything else, plus the latest economic disasters default to the sitting President, (right or wrong), and FORCED people who might have" voted Republican to vote for the Democrats....gun owners are a minority in this Country so 2nd Amendment Rights weren't a consideration..giving up something you don't use, (the Second Amendment), wasn't a consideration.....people wanted something they weren't getting and they saw McCain as someone they weren't going to get it from....Obama, with his vacuous promises of "Real Change" was standing there with the butterfly net to catch the people that couldn't run away from the Republican Party fast enough because they were offering up nothing more than "more of the same" with the McCain/Plain ticket...

So in the end the real consideration to the more than substantial majority that voted was, IMO, not who Obama was but who he wasn't....McCain was another Bush....Obama wasn't....Obama wins.....

So "AMERICA" gets something different...if it's as heinous as many people here think it will be then in two years its up to us to change it by taking their majorities in the Legislature away.....and two years after that to offer up a candidate for President that isn't more of the same like they did this year.....

Like many I'm not happy but I do understand how what happened happened...and to realize that no amount of bitching and moaning is going to change it for the next two years....and that its time to stop hoping that "he was born in Kenya".........

Steve

We are all screwed. We are going to have to stop hunting and fishing and work all the time to support all these sorry ass individuals who only want to sit on there porches and smoke crack and drink 40's all day. Im mad as hell. How can anybody believe that Obama is good for our country......

If you are an IL resident you need a Firearm Owners ID card to buy ammo. If you are not an IL resident you can buy ammo without a foid card. IL registers it's gun owners, like the nazi's did in the beginning.

I worked in a very liberal organization and found the liberals to be long on talk and short on any real action or work of substance. Nothing was ever a liberals fault. They can always blame someone else for the situation.

In my opinion, W got Barack elected. There could be a shift back the other way in the future.

Being from IL I know the political machine that Obama came out of. Chicago politics for the USA! It has worked so well for us here in IL. Now it is time for Barack and the liberals to walk the walk.

Steve,
very well said. I had written up a pretty long reply and the computer decided to not let me post. You basically said what I was going to say. Most people voted simply for a change because they despise what the Republic party has become and "the grass MUST be greener".

As for how things will turn out, we're going to find out. Obama made an awful lot of promises, but getting any or all of that done even with a congress that is controlled by the same party will require a lot of work. They don't agree on EVERYTHING. Sometimes change can be a good. If nothing else, it gives us some perspective :)

How about forming a druid party by the 2012 election?

In response to the comments that some votes for obama (socialism) & giving away freedoms in exchange for a handout (controlled) from the gubment:

Those who are willing to give away a freedom(s) for the illusion of security deseerve neither freedom nor security.

I work for for what is mine. My money, my guns, my home, & so on. Try to take any of them, plan on packing several lunches.....

Yes there were many reasons why what happened happened. I have no love for Mr. Bush or the Republican party and even less for the Democrats. I supported the Iraq war up until the fall of Saddam and the free election. The determination to continue the war beyond that was for me, the turning point. I lost faith with them then. I worked 12 hours a day, 6 days a week for a very long time and retired a year and a half ago thinking all was ok and since have watched my 401 decline to such a state that for the past month, I have been looking for a job. Try that in todays economy when you are 61 years old with no marketable skills except that of driving semis for 40 years. While moaning and groaning will do absolutely nothing to change (love that word) things, it does allow me some relief from the anger and frustration gleaned from realizing that the future of this country has been hinged upon the vote of a greater mass of uninformed, (black and white) people that to me, voted their preference of color or some idealized, obscure retoric. I have asked many, some within my own family what change they expect from an Obama administration. I asked that they be specific in their answer and none could. Just, change. I do believe however, that a "change" has occured and that the nation I grew up in will never be the same and I think it to be an unfortunately bad change. OK....moaning and groaning on my part is over with here. Hope everyones season is doing better than mine. (More moaning and groaning...sorry)

Percolate....Is that like trickle-down?

You know that slogan about "When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." ? Heck, Lee, we'll just all become outlaw gunners.

After all, my mentor Buckeye Joe was always "regarded highly" by the DNR, and he always maintained that decoy carvers were the last free men in America - regardless of who was the Prez.

Isn't "move on" a liberal organization funded by billionaire George Saros(sp?). Money moves from the top down...I just don't want a gubmint bein my boss.

MLBob...lucky those two Cheshire cats didn't break my monitor when the pic came up. And I miss 'em both.

Last one to limit on woodies is a pisswilly...

Hey Denny, take a look at the Constitution Party. Thanks Howard. I just read their party platform and a list of their representatives here in Michigan. Had I known of this organization before voting, a couple of my votes would have been different. While some may find their platform extreme, I think its what that group of men had in mind a long time ago. I shall spend more time reading and following them.

It a way it almost seems that the Dems could have picked anyone and still have won. People and the media hated Bush that much. Not sure why no one pick on Biden for his time in office. Obama always said that McCain has been in Washington too long and it will be same old, same old if he is elected. Correct me if I'm wrong(I know you will haha) But hasn't Biden been a senator longer that McCain? Seems to me that he would be more of the same old, same old as well.

I am certainly not happy with how this turned out but we have to realize that some things are more important to some people than owning guns. That was the point I was trying to make. I also saw but did not fully read and article on a true socialist saying that Obama was not a socialist but a Capitalist??? More reading for me to figure this out.

If my wife was seriously ill and Obama's plan would help with medical coverage that I might need, ask me what would be more important to me, having a spanish side by side in my hand or my wife's hand. The answer is no surprise. If some beg to differ, I sure hope that your wives don't read this because a divorce may be in order.

We have to play the cards that we are dealt. I knew 6 months ago at least that Obama was probably going to be the next president. I didn't want to believe it, but I pretty much knew it. Hopefully this will increase our appearence to other countries and help strengthen the dollar.

I AM JUST CURIOUS WHO OBAMA WILL PICK AS THE AMBASSADOR TO THE U.N. WE KNOW THAT THEY WILL BE PUSHING HARD AGAIN FOR GLOBAL DISARMENT.

ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW IF OBAMA IS TAKING HIS OATH ON THE KORAN(SP). IF HE DOES THAT WILL BE A SPIT IN THE FACE TO ALL AMERICANS AND THAT WILL MOST LIKELY GET HIM SHOT.

Cheers,
Mike

I also have a friend who is a VP for and investment company in 5th ave. She forwarded an article written by Warren Buffet.

He basically said that it's time to invest in America again. Stock prices are cheap and a true bargin. The biggest corporations have been through this before. They have weathered prior storms. He further cited that in the past century the country has been through 2 world wars and a dozen or so "conflicts" and a dozen or so recessions, "crashes" in the stock market and we managed to achieve great growth, a stock market that went from like 60 something in the beginning to over 11,000 or what ever the hell its' peak number was.(I'm refraining from giving a number in fear of being corrected).

So in short.....The country isn't going anywhere. In for a bumpy ride...sure. Bitching and moaning isn't going to change anything now. We will just have to see what Obama can do and make necessary calls and letters to voice our disapproval when needed.

Pissed...hell yeah Optimistic...I have to be!!!

Cheers,
Mike

Here is the article

Subject: "Buy American. I Am." - Warren E. Buffett in NYT

The financial world is a mess, both in the United States and abroad. Its
problems, moreover, have been leaking into the general economy, and the
leaks are now turning into a gusher. In the near term, unemployment will
rise, business activity will falter and headlines will continue to be
scary. < BR>
So ... I've been buying American stocks. This is my personal account I'm
talking about, in which I previously owned nothing but United States
government bonds. (This description leaves aside my Berkshire Hathaway
holdings, which are all committed to philanthropy.) If prices keep
looking attractive, my non-Berkshire net worth will soon be 100 percent
in United States equities.

Why?

A simple rule dictates my buying: Be fearful when others are greedy, and
be greedy when others are fearful. And most certainly, fear is now
widespread, gripping even seasoned investors. To be sure, investors are
right to be wary of highly leveraged entities or businesses in weak
competitive positions. But fears regarding the long-term prosperity of
the nation's many sound companies make no sense. These businesses will
indeed suffer earnings hiccups, as they always have. But most major
companies will be setting new profit records 5, 10 and 20 years from
now.

Let me be clear on one point: I can't predict the short-term movements
of the stock market. I haven't the faintest idea as to whether stocks
will be higher or lower a month - or a year - from now. What is likely,
however, is that the market will move higher, perhaps substantially so,
well before either sentiment or the economy turns up. So if you wait for
the robins, spring will be over.

A little history here: During the Depression, the Dow hit its low, 41,
on July 8, 1932. Economic conditions, though, kept deteriorating until
Franklin D. Roosevelt took office in March 1933. By that time, the
market had already advanced 30 percent. Or think back to the early days
of World War II, when things were going badly for the United States in
Europe and the Pacific. The market hit bottom in April 1942, well before
Allied fortunes turned. Again, in the early 1980s, the time to buy
stocks was when inflat ion raged and the economy was in the tank. In
short, bad news is an investor's best friend. It lets you buy a slice of
America's future at a marked-down price.

Over the long term, the stock market news will be good. In the 20th
century, the United States endured two world wars and other traumatic
and expensive military conflicts; the Depression; a dozen or so
recessions and financial panics; oil shocks; a flu epidemic; and the
resignation of a disgraced president. Yet the Dow rose from 66 to
11,497.

You might think it would have been impossible for an investor to lose
money during a century marked by such an extraordinary gain. But some
investors did. The hapless ones bought stocks only when they felt
comfort in doing so and then proceeded to sell when the headlines made
them queasy.

Today people who hold cash equivalents feel comfortable. They shouldn't.
They have opted for a terrible long-term asset, one that pays virtually
nothing and is certain to depreciate in value. Indeed, the policies that
government will follow in its efforts to alleviate the current crisis
will probably prove inflationary and therefore accelerate declines in
the real value of cash accounts.

Equities will almost certainly outperform cash over the next decade,
probably by a substantial degree. Those investors who cling now to cash
are betting they can efficiently time their move away from it later. In
waiting for the comfort of good news, they are ignoring Wayne Gretzky's
advice: "I skate to where the puck is going to be, not to where it has
been."

I don't like to opine on the stock market, and again I emphasize that I
have no idea what the market will do in the short term. Nevertheless,
I'll follow the lead of a restaurant that opened in an empty bank
building and then advertised: "Put your mouth where your money was."
Today my money and my mout h both say equities.

1st and foremost you have to have money available to invest -- with the economy here in michigan -- your lucky if you can afford to eat, and pay the bills

what barry will do to improve the situation is beyond me -- he may be the president but he's no miracle worker -- and he's going to tax business more -- what incentive will that be to keep jobs here or create more?
