Sculling today

I hunted with my buddy OLD Leonard this morning. When you see his picture you will see why he is OLD Leonard. There was a pretty good amount of birds to scull on today, but....... the ones that I found just would not let me get close today. They were mostly in larger groups. At 80 yards or so they would be heads up and swimming away. OLD Leonard found singles and pairs to scull on. He had better luck today. Still had fun though!

Good morning, Dale~

Great photos all around - especially the rare shot of the Kelp Monster - luckily, they have been extirpated here on the Atlantic Tidewater....

All the best,

SJ

I might just have to build a scull boat. When I was a kid, I used a canoe a few times, but I think it would be cool to have a set-up just for sculling.

Do you use decoys? I've heard tales of guys setting up decoys, then setting up a ways away. When a flock of birds lands with the toy ducks, they then scull down on them. The idea seems to be,the decoys hold the birds longer.

That looks fun. I have been keeping an eye out for one but no luck yet. I have areas around that I think a scull would work pretty well.

Steve, I really wish everyone, had a friend like that Kelp Monster!

Jon, I have never tried using decoys when sculling. I think it would work really well on brant.

Sculling is addicting for some, and for most, very baffling.........

If you got into sculling, that laid back dog in your avatar, would have to stay home though. He might be upset with you!

Luke, have you tried getting in touch with Mike Braun, The decoy carver?

He is in Jersey, and an avid sculler. He might know of a boat for sale.
