scuppers

lund boats have a splashwell on the transom they are going to drain it.

OK then, I was trying to imagine how they would work on the hull, that makes sense. Are you looking for one-way, which is what I assumed? The Lunds I've been in had 3/4" holes to drain, I think.

Thats where I am having a problem Tod, every place I look I find all kinds of scuppers but everything is to big.

Someone will correct me, but I think they are drain plugs. What is the diameter?

Why do you need to add a scupper? Aren't the drains working for you? I am guessing you are getting water back through the drains, maybe while backing down? Just fashion a flap over the drain, hinged above?

Hi Dave 7 years ago I replaced the transom, I replaced the original scuppers with plastic push together, Now I noticed one was cracked letting water into the wood, don't want to have to replace it again.

Take the plastic ones out and put in brass drain sleeves in with either 5200 or 4200 sealer adhesive. You have to use a flaring tool to do it right. If your not able any good marine repair shop will be able to install them for you. I don't see where scuppers would keep the water from getting into the wood.

The first drain sleeve is what I would use. The second isn't made for draining a motor well. The third is what he has now and there junk.

I use brass drain sleeves that are longer then the 1 and 7/8 in. ones pictured so I can cut them to the exact length needed.

Thanks guys for your help, The brass one's are the one's I am looking for, What kind of flaring tool is needed & where can it be bought.

I found them at wholesale marine for about $26.00 It is the same one I use. I have bought from this company before with no problems.
