The post at the bottom is from Jim Dodd on the Bear Mountain Canoe forum. I wanted to share it here for anyone contemplating building a wood strip canoe or boat but lacking a good table saw. These strips are intended for my Freedom 15 canoe project. I may start this winter if we don't get enough ice to get out safely on the lakes.

Be sure to use a fine kerf, though, to make the most of your nice clear Cedar.....

That is what I thought too. Every once and a while I will get this weird deflection thing and loose whatever savings from the thin kerf blade. Once I get another straight edge using my table saw I'm able to resume. Not sure if my feed speed is too fast or too much lateral pressure but my sources tell me that a thicker blade will help this, albeit at the expense of sawdust. Speaking of which, like Eric Sloane's artwork depicts, this is a very messy job!
