Sneakbox Hard Dodger

Thank you all for the kind comments and support. One of the things I enjoy most about completing a project is sharing with my duckboats.net friends. I think everyone here can relate to the satisfaction of building, making, repairing, restoring, and simply creating your own items to use along with family and friends. Having others appreciate that only encourages me to keep going that much more.

I had a lot of help from my son's friend Patrick Green who plans to build a Devlin this coming year. He wanted as much exposure to epoxy boat work as possible and this refurb and build was a nice intro. Being able to share what I have learned from others, and trial and error, with all of you, my son, and his peers is very satisfying. I thank you all for keeping this little forum alive.

You did a great job on the dodger Eric. Your shop is beautiful. And clean. Scarily, unnaturally clean [sly]

Dani, I just have this thing against clutter and the need to keep it in check. I go batty if I can't find a tool and this is the only way I've been able to prevent that, even so it doesn't always overcome a bad memory. Jeff always had a messy shop and he worked just fine in it. I never told him he needed to get it straightened up because it would be better for him. It's a purely a matter of preference I think whichever side of the spectrum a person is on (messy or tidy) a workspace needs to be comfortable and this is how I find comfort.

I will add this in light of the fact of your terrible loss. Whenever I am at the shop I think about Jeff and all that he did for me. His memory lives on because I have reminders of him everywhere in my shop and I frequently tell visitors just how much of what they see is because of Jeff. Your recent post is exactly what I'm talking about. Your hunt had Steve all over it even though he wasn't physically there. We move forward carrying appreciation for a person who cared enough to give something that is hard to get, their time and true friendship.

Thanks.

Eric

Feel free to send your new project down to Tampa and I will help you enjoy the sharing experience even more via my photos of it in use on Tampa Bay.....

Funny how opposites tend to attract eh?

Steve was like you in his tidiness and orderliness. I drove him crazy with my lack of it. I can't count the number of times he reorganized my truck before a hunt or a trip...eventually I just learned to stay out of the way when he got going...

Looks fantastic, I enjoyed all the stories/tour on instagram too. Please be sure to post some photos once you grass it up.

Getting to be the time of year where I dream about duck boats like this; in fact just purchased the study plans for a few models.

Great job and happy hunting!

Came out great Eric! I'm very jealous of your workshop. The videos on instagram were really cool to watch, nice to have the full video walk through of the project.

Thought I'd report that after having the Broadbill equipped with a dodger for the past season I am only disappointed I didn't make one 20 years ago. Every great once in a while I feel like I hit it out of the park and this is one of those occasions. Not only does it help conceal the hunter but it makes the boat more enjoyable to drive. I hunted solo in the boat quite a bit after Thomas returned to Auburn and wasn't able to get many pictures of it in action hunting, but yesterday we took the boats out for a post season stroll and I managed to get some of Patrick Green running the boat. Next year's agenda will be improving the camo job to reduce the hard lines near the shear. Below are some pictures and video.

Good morning, Eric~

Wonderful! I am so glad it has worked out so well for you. No question that having a secure hand-hold up forward makes operating these little vessels a real pleasure when standing st the helm.

All the best,

SJS

I learned that some of you could not see the videos due to iphones new codec that windows PCs don't like. So I threw together a youtube video. If anyone is considering a hard dodger I can't say enough good about it.
