Some fall hunt pictures

It's been a busy fall and winter with numerous hunts and trips, here are a few shots from North Dakota and Washington.

Spencer and I stared off the fall with a bow hunt in North Dakota mid Sept. I took my new wirehair pup Zu-Zu with me and shot sharptails and doves over her, she is now 18 months old and has the heart of a loin when it comes to hunting, more on her later

Zu -Zu with her first doves

Spencer with his whitetail, due to blue tongue the deer numbers are very low on my buddies farm right now.

After North Dakota a friend had drawn a Sept rifle tag north of my place so I helped him out for a couple days and he took this 6x6 bull the third morning.

For seven weekends in October and November Spencer, Hunter and I traveled to the Spokane area for Spencers moose hunt, there were 5800 applicants for 8 tags and Spencer got lucky and was drawn for an any moose tag, during the hunt he passed on 45 different bulls, shot video of just about every one and during the 4th weekend Of Nov shot a bull, he even self filmed the shot that brought him down.

During the weekends hunting we shot a lot of grouse saw two wolves and Hunter shot a nice fall Tom with my 114 year old Remington side by side with black powder loads.

During late November and into December we had some great puddle duck hunts.

Last week I headed back to North Dakota for the final week of pheasant season The new pup is doing great she retrieved about 20 roosters and did a great job working the brush, I have never had a dog this young hunt so hard, the last two days were 18 below zero and she just kept on hunting.

A couple roosters I took with my Steyr sxs built in 1924

Well young man, emphasis on young, you had a darn good reason for not being on this site for a while. Good for you. You were in that zone of being in the right kind of busy!!

I loved that puddle duck shot because it was so good to see that someone else besides me knows how to shoot hens.

Wow Fred, awesome season and great recap to share with us. You must be proud of the boys and the new pup!

Nice shots Fred! Nothing better than hunting with your kids. Also, love the Kromer... Keep up the good work! Pat

Wow Fred, busy fall is right! What a great fall for you with the boys and the new pup!

Thanks guys , the new pup has taken up a lot of my time, she is such a wonderful dog that goes from a hunting machine in the brush to dead quiet in the back seat when we are done.

Pat , That is the new Kromer, the rancher model with ear flaps, I bought it in Montana on our way to North Dakota, it's great as when you have the ear flaps down you can still see good to shoot , my other hat a Kromer knock off, sits to low when the flaps are down and you cant see to shoot as the bill blocks your view.

Fred-

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. The images of the scenery are impressive and beautiful.

That Chessie sure looks like a stud!

Wow! You, your family and friends had a heck of a fall. Zu-Zu is looking good, it's nice to see she is doing a good job.

Beautiful record of your hunting grounds!

Fred, is your dog a Chessie or an English Fox Red lab?

Also, is that a Shiras Moose?

RL , My dog Whistler is a Chessie, I should have named her "magnet" because she is always stuck to my side.

The moose is a Shiras, taken in north east Washington.

Best

Fred
