I have always wondered if these collars were bothersome.

AWESOME pictures Al,

The whiffing Snows are great! Can't wait to see that myself as they come into the decoys in a few weeks here!!

Awesome shots Al, as usual. I really like the shots of the snows and ross' dropping altitude. It reminds of me of the way the bluebills suddenly dump in, crashing into the decoys like they've been shot before you even fire. It confused the heck out of a friend this fall. Chili seems to have her priorities straight! Kuma does the same thing, yesterday he dragged my waders down and sat on them waiting to go. I told him 7 1/2 more months but he still wouldn't budge :-)

Absolutely wonderful shots. Hope you don't mind but #14, the wiffling snows, just became my screen saver.
We call that maple leafing here in central mass.

Al,

On the way home from Provo, Utah last night Barbara and I enjoyed the moon raising over the Bear River Range with that same reddish orange cast and the proportional distortion caused by the atmosphere, a huge old moon. Nice shots as always..

Hey Al!! Man nice pics. Wife is drooling. She just got back from a big banding deal at BDA. She wants me to ask you what your settings are for the geese in flight. Sooooooo awesome!! Thanks, jake

Thanks, Craig. Good luck when you get out to hunt these PhD's of all waterfowl.

Al,

Love the shots that show the geese "whiffle-ing" to lose altitude while coming in.

Thanks, Bob. They are exciting to watch at this time. Especially when you have thousands of them coming in wave after wave.

Thanks, Nick. Nothing like waterfowl whiffling. I have never seen bluebills doing that but have taken shots of courtship flights of spoonbills and cinnamon teal that do, along with Canadas, snows, and pintails.
I think Kuma and Chili must have the same gene pool. Normally after season, she pouts for a while.

I Michigan we call that maple leafing. Those pic are too cool! Thank you

Thanks, Chad. Now you have me wondering how the term "maple leafing" was applied to this? Was it the way the leaf floats to the ground in the fall?
