South Bay Duck Boat -Blind ground rule #1 recovered.

Always nice to have a willing seamstress on hand. Fine looking job. Especially like your approach to the door drop with fiberglass rod. Beats fumbling with something trickier. Trying to get my wife to finish sewing a rollup cordura blind i,ve built for a little 12/32 jon boat but shes balking. Slowing my progress! She tells me after each blind she,s not sewing another! I think this makes #7.

OK, now I really must focus on decoys, as I am so far behind. It will be not stop decoys until it is time to grass up.

Rich, I intend to put the decoys inside, and maybe on the foredeck. I usually use less than 18 decoys with the small boat. If we switch over to Brant, then I can run back to the truck and switch out. This hull feels much larger than my BBSB. Though I have not loaded it with decoys yet. Looking at 3 six slot bags seems like I can stack then at the front of the cockpit quite easily.

I hunt small marshes mostly, use 6 mallard / black decoys with two field mallards on the marsh. If I hunt up near John L, I bring a dozen brant [ very few brant out my way ].

Roy, my Mom looks forward to our projects.... brings back old times with all the schemes I have come up with over the many years. Tough on her machine, good thing it is a good one. I am sure I could figure it out myself, but as long as she is willing and able, she will have a part in my boat builds. I think she has been involved with all of them thus far.... from the more recent pasts.....BBSB, Pondbox, Scooter, Scaup, and now SBDB, as well as many decoy bags, lap aprons, diver flags, and motor covers!

Your fortunate. The first couple I had her sew she wasn,t to grumpy. Thats changed . I create pattern, cut out, pin up and order materials. Just need her to sew. Presently trying to get wife to sew up front and rear doors on current blind build. Shes already completed side walls except for grassing straps on front wall. I,ve already pinned up doors and waiting on her . She decided sunday to start. I pulled out machine to set up on table and managed to drop it and break off bobbin fixture. Part should be here tomorrow so I can fix. Can't win for losing!

Well, I decided to set the hard cover on and install some strap eyes to secure it for roadtrips.... and it will not fit! The extra blocks I added to allow the rear flaps to mount inboard for solo hunts are just too tight. I might be able to trim the cover just enough to make it fit, but hate to do that to my perfect cover. Oh well, I will work on a canvas in it's place. Mom will get to do some more sewing!

I removed the block that was preventing the hard cover from fitting. I am noodling out an alternative that does not infringe on the internal width for the occasions I want to have the rear flaps inboard. 363398737_10233178029099096_6060564928093006565_n.jpg
