Strongsville who plans on going

I have been carving and plan to have a black to trade if you still want one. I am thinking about maybe getting there Friday for the class on painting.
Pete

I'd love one but don't know what I'll have yet to trade. I have probably only carved 8 birds in the past 12 months, and only 4 I think are completed. You are welcome to go through my bag when we are up there to see if anything peaks your interest. Been doing mostly divers lately. We won't be there until Friday evening.

We'll be there, Pete...with a bunch of Maine-iacs! Bringing some birds to compete with and/or trade.

See you in March!

Nate

Nate,
Rich told me that Steve B. was going to be at the show. It will be good to see you guys and I hope to have some decoys to trade.
Pete

Steve will indeed be there. You should see some of the stuff he has been working on. Holy smokes!

I'm looking forward to going and seeing you guys there. Should be a lot of fun. Now, just to finish some birds.

Nate

Could someone take a few minutes and describe what a first timer should expect and be prepared for? What happens and when, how much will I spend, and on what etc?

While I love to look at art pieces, my interest still is in working birds. I have a couple that ride the mantel in the off season, but when the season starts they go back in the bags. Will everything be over $100? $200? Is there a tailgate swap? Are these used, rig birds? If anyone has done Strongsville and Tuckerton, or Havre de Grace, or Easton, they are my basis of knowledge, how do they compare? Should I bring anything for trade? What is appropriate, old factory birds, only cork/foam/wood?

Dave,

I've never been to either of the other shows, so I can't compare.

However, to answer most of your "other" questions, YES. You should be able to find the answers to the rest of them here http://odcca.net/

I'll be there all day Saturday and Sunday, look me up and I'll introduce you to a bunch of "the boys" a lot of whom are fellow DHBP members. There is a lot of browsing... I'm told, this show is unique in the fact that it's all centered at the inside of the hotel. There will be several large banquet rooms filled with displays, (lots of eye candy), and then most of the lower couple floors of rooms themselves will be open while people display, buy, sell swap all kinds of Waterfowl, and some "not so Waterfowl" related stuff.

As I stated in an earlier post, my Wife has been coming with me for the last ten or so years. She's made enough friends that we often go our seperate ways during the weekend.

It's something I REALLY look forward to every year. Unfortunately, I usually run out of time before I see and talk to everyone that I would like to.

See you then,

Jon

I'll be headed out with Nate and the crew from Maine. It's been too long since I have been out there for the show. Going to be a great time.

Kenley

Just made my reservation for Saturday evening. Will likely be bringing the whole circus, if anyone else is bringing a first time wife or even young kids with them drop me a note, maybe we can get them all together.

Kenley,
It will be nice to hang out with you guys. Now I will have to get working on finishing another decoy. I will try and get it done .
Pete

It dose for me George, it would go faster if work wasn't so busy and I could stay and carve for more than a hour or two. Also I can't take away for the couch time.
Pete

Coming from Virginia, I will get to meet many new forum members... but how will I find you all? Do the exhibiters/participants wear name tags? I am terrible with names and faces anyway!

Dave - I'll be wearing either a well-weathered Red Sox hat and/or a Cape Pond Ice shirt. I don't have a noticeable New England accent as my mum was a school teacher and she would kick my ass if I ever dropped an "R."

This will be my first time there. Looking forward to it. I just hope OH doesn't have as much snow on the ground as we've got here. Uncle, already!

Nate

So far...

Unseasonably cold, probably a little more snow than usual, but not anywhere near as much as you guys up East.

Hopefully, it will.warm a few degrees by then.

Jon

Unfortunately, I will be attending the Oshkosh Decoy Show that same weekend in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. Seems like the organizers of these two shows should get together and talk about dates... Pat
