Teach my about rivers and appropriate boats

Joe, I Hunt the Delaware river in my duck boss 15. It handles well in current and rough water, but is not too big to run by yourself. I run mine with a 30hp e-tec outboard. You have to be careful around rocks with fiberglass and props, but rocks will put holes in aluminium boats as well, there are a few under Trenton falls.

Picking up decoys with a lot of current can be a challenge, and teaching your dog how to cut off drifting birds in the summer will save a lot time.

I hunt the Delaware above Trenton, and the Susky above Harrisburg. They are both shallow rocky rivers and the Susky has hull eating ledges. I have a 16' jon with a 115/80 Jet. I know both rivers very well but I don't run in the dark in cold weather. It isn't safe to run on plane in the dark when you need to read the river to navigate narrow ledges and wing dams.

Make sure everyone wears life jacket when in the boat.

Be safe and smart and be honest with your and your boats limitations.
