The new TDB Blackjack build

Tony,

It's a great looking boat. Just my 2 cents but don't leave it looking unfinished. Add a rub rail and the added protection it offers. I replaced my rub rail on my 17' boat at a cost of $150. You buying in bulk would be considerably less and when one is looking at a $4,000 - $5,000 investment the cost of the rub rail isn't even in the equation.

Ed what is that photo of? I like it? I only got a 1" wide area for the trim and am almost certain we will add something as your right. It looks great but looks unfinished without a trim now that I have the boat on the floor. :) so searching for trim now actually. in 3/4" width.

Tony,

I got this off of ebay. I got it from Great Lakes Skipper. I believe I found it was from a company called Taco. It's 1 1/8" wide so it may be a bit wide for your application. Neat stuff. It's a rigid plastic channel with a plastic insert. http://www.ebay.com/itm/STANDARD-1-1-8-X-5-8-INCH-X-53-FOOT-RIGID-BOAT-RUB-RAIL-MOLDING-W-INSERT-/200678798764?pt=Boat_Parts_Accessories_Gear&hash=item2eb96375ac&vxp=mtr

Wow thats almost 6.00ft. I like it will do some searching around.

Very nice any way we can get a video of you ripping up a lake?

You bet! but would The golf of mexico work? LOL

almost time for vacation and this baby is going with me. Gonna try to catch some reds and trout from it around Tampa.

Okay preliminary reports are in on capacity.

We have 2 options. And maybe those who have them can help me here?

We can rate the boat 2 ways.

First

2 persons or 325lbs
570lbs persons, motors and gear
25hp motor

this is based on 220lbs capacity for motor battery and full fuel tank. And we have to use the figures for a 25hp motor.

Second

2 persons or 385lbs
570lbs persons motor and gear
15hp motor

this is based on 160lbs of capacity for motor battery and full fuel tank. And we have to use the figures for a 15hp motor.

These numbers are NOT etched in stone until we can get a float test done on top of the math formula.

Tony, this may turn out to be a whole new can of worms you've opened up here. If it was my boat, I'd go with the 15hp. You know how duck hunters figure capacity. T.he 25 just doesn't leave much room for error, but then too, I always figure on comming in in three footers. Wheather or not I do.

Howard i tend to agree. And yes i know how duck hunters work. Lol. Load the boats as full as they can. Lol. So i too am leaning toward the 15 as well. I mean honestly how fast ya gotta go during duck season. Lol

Guys what ya think about blinds for the Black Jack? a full blind or just front rounded spray dodger? We can do either but a bow spray dodger seems more fitting for the style, thoughts? And would help keep costs down allowing owners to customize there own blinds if they wish.

i like the looks of a rounded dodger and flapper boards so if i got one, thats how i would set it up

I found this photo that a fello member here made and I sure like the looks of this style and think it will fit the boat awesome.

Chris, Flapper boards would also be a nice feature. But right now we got enough projects and we must finish this boat so we can get it tested by USCG and onto the market.

Mr. Taylor a mighty fine job on this dodger.

Cool boat - but those bright silver bow light and stern light covers.....

Derek only the front one is chrome, the back is black nylon. The production boats will have a black boy light as well. :)

Just happen to have this extra laying here and figured I could throw some black spray paint on it this fall. But for summer fishing it wont matter. LOL
