They're SO CLOSE!!!

Prodrive is damn close now. But a welded plate on the bottom of the boat for the cooling system?!?!?! UMMMM NOPE! Even if it was a small little box mounted in a storage hatch somewhere, that would be much more ideal than a plate welded on the bottom of the boat. Right mindset and I like the lower on this one much more than the freedom outboard model.

I'm 43 (had to think about that), we've been running keel cooled inboards since before i could talk. I've had go devil, pro drive, and gatortail. out of the 3 traditional mud motors, i'd pick the gatortail, we own about 25 of them at our camp, and have weeded out the other two. My neighbor just got the motor you posted, i haven't ridden in it yet but i went over to look at it. It seems like its gonna be great. The price though is absolutely insane.

how much is it? I cant find that tid bit. But im telling you right now, I would break that piece on the bottom of the boat. No questions asked. I find a hard rock every year at WOT, no questions asked, it just happens time and time again. It just scares is all. I jump my boat quite a bit took. Just run it over stuff and even jump over little stumps into back pockets. Surely they will come up with a different design than an exterior under hull cooling system.

Most of the inboard boats run them internal to the hull, i think his prodrive boat does that as well.

I believe he told me the engine was $20K, he bought the whole setup so i think $35K

Internal makes a lot of sense and im sure they do that on their boat, but I dont want their boat, I just want the motor. I love the hull I got already. But Im not welding a metal tab on the bottom of my shallow water boat that hold critical fluid to make my boat go forward lol. One thing if it was a boat for the ocean, another when its for a boat that runs 6" of water in and around sand and rocks.

20k sucks, thats the price for freedom outboard design as well. You know which outboard motor they are using? I know freedom is using tohatsu and where i have a hard time with them is its a 6500 motor with their mods. Their mods do not seem like 14k extra in cost. I can buy almost two of the 55 efi mudbuddys that I have now. I have a grip of hours on my efi, and really hoping I can make a switch to something like this. But I think ill run it mudbuddy, get a complete rebuild and use it another couple years and hope these companies get it right. I really want that outboard go in a true mudmotor design. I like the prodrive version the most, I hate their cooling design though. Wonder how hard it would be to call and ask if they could make it in a box time mounted in the same box where my battery and bilges etc are.
