This is why you don't use polyester resin

That's why you don't use polyester with cloth. If you are going to use polyester resin, you have to have CSM (Chopped Strand Mat) against the wood and then a layer of mat. Only way to get it to stay in place on wood...or anything for that matter.

Here is the finished AA Broad Bill belonging to Todd Huber that was in for repair. I kept it under cover for about two months to let the wood really dry out. It was worth the wait because I didn't have to replace any of the deck or bottom. Just repaired some holes and recovered it with Epoxy and glass and reinforced all the seams just like building a new boat. I changed the motor mount with a piece of oak, an honest two inch thick piece. Added nav lights and grass rails.. Paint is Parker Marsh Grass.View attachment IMG_2013.JPGView attachment IMG_2010.JPG

I'm inclined to belive that is just the way the plan called for. It is actually wide enough to lay on in comfort.

Very nice work. I love it when someone takes something old and warn and breathes new life into it. Quite satisfying.

Great looking boat. If my sculler ever needs to be re-glassed again (heaven forbid), I know where to send her if I want her to look good.

super job, I like the rear handles are they original

Bob, yes those are the orginal handles. They were threaded so that the screws actually went inside the handle. The screws were about two sizes smaller than 1/4-20 so I drilled them out and used 1/4-20 b0lts.
