Too low

I’ll save everyone the 20 minute version but I’m getting back into it. I’m trying to use up my partial builds to bolster my rig before starting fresh. Waste not want not. I have this burlap foam body and pine goldeneye head I carved years ago. The head sits pretty low in the body. This will be a gunning decoy. Too low in the shoulders or will the birds not care? I could add wood to the head but that might be more work than necessary.

I'd think the birds won't care. It'll make a working decoy for sure. I have some from my early years (and some from my not so early years) that are butt ugly to me know but the birds don't care.

I have to keep reminding myself that I'm making decoys not ducks. The closer to real life looking probably the better but only a few carver/makers achieve that. Everyone else develops a style of their own.
