Traveling Black decoy hits the intercoastal flats...

Today was the last day out with Tim before he and the wife head back to Iowa. Lucas was ready to go…so we hit the salt water for more Bluebill action. The birds put on quite a show for us.

The Traveling MLB Lee Black duck got some salt

Both dogs got wet…

This was also Balvenie’s first boat hunt for ducks. I thought it best to take both dogs and that worked well…set the order and give some lessons.

The Fish Hawks were busy right over head…

And the cover shots…kid and dogs

Hitch,

Excellent photos, that decoy is almost as big as Lucas. :>)

I hope Tim didn't sell his winter coat while he was there. We are supposed to have high temps in the single digits above zero and lows in the single and double digits below zero for the next couple days. I had to chip out a big chunk of ice from the boat ramp to get on the river last time I went. I was planning to go again this morning but I may wimp out, it's minus 3 wind chill already and dropping fast.

Nice to see everyone enjoying the Florida sun and salt.

I don't know how you do it but you definitely have an eye for photography, and capturing a moment. As always a pleasure to see awsome pics. My favorite is the kids and dog photo, and second is the fish hawk (osprey?) where you can see scales of the fish falling off.

Have a Happy New Year.

As opposed to everyone else in those picture, that is one very unhappy looking pinfish!

Yes it does appear unhappy and troubled. I think the Osprey was as unhappy with the fish though as the fish was with his condition; "too small"...you could almost guess what the fish hawk was thinking. He looked it over for awhile above us with it still in his talons, and headed for the dock after finally deciding to eat it.

Tim and Kary are on their way home Dave. I don't think either wanted to leave but I'm sure they wanted a day to recover. They already know it'll be cold when they get back.

Great shots Hitch. My kids are jealous of Luke. They're still a bit too young for a cold boat hunt. I will be getting the Lee blackie soon but don't know if it will fit in the boat. That thing is huge!!!.....................Kevin

I was in the Orlando Int. Airport in early November after a Griswold Family vacation on the Disney Cruise Line when I ran across a Florida Sportsman magazine....the cover said something about duck hunting so naturally I picked it up to read on the plane...the article had a picture of a landing ringneck taken by John Hitchcock...very nice pictures as always....Dave.

They were my first published magazine photos requested. If you look on the cover of that issue of FS, in the upper left hand corner above the title is an incoming Scaup drake. That photo is mine as well. They wanted to pay me for the photos but I forgot to fill out the forms. Maybe next time :-)

We are coming back down January 12, is there any magazines I should look for then???? Thanks Hitch I always look forward to your pictures, and it was a surprise to see a duck hunting article with photos published by a fellow DBP member while in an airport in Florida after picking it up just by chance..Dave
