What a pussy....

Tod

Not a puss! but a smart man. Every man wakes up and goes through should I stay or should I go. I did the same during a two foot snow storm this year. The birds were lined up on the water like crazy. But I sat home. I feel your pain. But I stayed warm. Happy New Year.

My fellow db hunters,
Closing in on 68 I don't have a serious issue with the cold. I've purchased the gear to get the job done.
What I find I can't purchase anymore is ENERGY!
In our advancing years we've all said it before...when we were in our younger years, how did I have the time to do it all. Work, family, home ownership, AND hunt. Now I'm retired, kids have moved on, and I turn over many risky homeowner chores to others. (I do not enjoy the feeling of vertigo when on an extension ladder these days.)
I saw it with my dad, my friend's dads and other people my age. They just lose the desire or energy to do what came so easy to do when they were younger. Some of us have lost hunting partners who made it easier to visit the marsh and head out into the elements. For some of us it may be our bodies just aren't in the same condition as when we were younger.

Duck hunting requires a lot of physical work. One guy once was amazed at all the waterfowl gear I had and just shook his head. He'd comment he just had to grab his bow and climb his treestand for his passion.
My joy comes now from seeing my kids carrying on the water-fowling tradition. Sometimes with me, sometimes without me. More often than not it's.... I just don't have the energy.

Maybe I should try "5 Hour Energy". LOL.

Well said sir! But just getting out even if it is warm and sunny is still getting out. I agree with everything you say. But just keep trying until the good lord says no hunting for you. God Bless and Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!
