What is in your bag? January 2021

Tod, you can add more of your decoys to the rig.

Beautiful decoys!!!!!!!!!! ;)! I see someone couldn't stand the non conventional rear anchor line placement on the feeder.

Posting from the boat. These are full of Japanese eelgrass. They?ll be super tasty. I?ll do a separate post on the decoy rig.

Nice Brad, I have been thinking that I'll sell my brant rig when I leave CT in retirement, but I'm thinking I'll need to keep it to be able to do a road trip and hunt the west coast.

Tod,
Do you have any pictures of your brant rig to share?
Thanks
Mike

It has been a good brant season. Either I have no culinary discernment, or Rhode Island's brant taste halfway decent. The one I ate back in December was tougher than a puddle duck, but only slightly less flavorful. Haven't eaten this one yet

Overall a lackluster season for me, but the last week of the season wasn't too bad...last day I hunted I snuck in a good one! The next morning I added a beaver I'd been trying to trap for long while and popped a squirrel on the walk in to boot!

I don't often shoot these but I told myself If I could identify I nice drake on the wing I'd take him, he was following a pair of hens:

one other season highlight from January, I added brant to the list of species I've taken with a 410:

A few highlight birds from the season. Started in a t-shirt shooting teal and finished it up in a few miles of ice. Wouldn't have it any other way.
