Whats on the workbench in May?

Thanks Chuck. Each of the birds has a slightly different "butt", I could never quite get the lines I wanted there. Seeing your pic is very helpful - I'll save that to my file for future birds (and there will be more, once these corkers get done for this season).

Nick

Even when I try and make the bodies the same, the canvas always stretches a little different on each one...it is truely an art the you need to just jump in and try different ways and get your own feel.

Thanks Pauly! Good to hear Chuck is doing something...

Took a break for a few days to travel to #3 son's graduation at BGSU, so I didn't get back to the birds I've been working on 'til mid-week. Wow, they grow up fast!

Who'd a thunk it? - Summa Cum Laude & Phi Beta Kappa in Mathematics & Actuarial Science. That was definitely the gene pool from my wife!

Anyway, here's a nice pair of widgeon all ready to go hunting:

[font=Verdana,Arial,Helvetica]MLBob,

Yes, they do grow up fast. It would appear that he has studied well. Does he have a job lined up yet?

Cork bodies on the Widgen pair?

Dave,

Oh yea, perhaps the most important accomplishment is that he will not be living in our basement!

Actually, he had multiple offers and signed a contract back in November as an actuary with one of the nation's top property casualty insurers, located here in Cincy. When he called and told me he had decided to accept their offer, and I relayed the news to his mom, her reaction was: "Great, but tell him he's not living here." Now there's a woman who coddles her kids!! Bwahahahaha.

He'll start with them in September. Next week, he's off to Colorado for the rest of the summer to do an outreach internship with Great Commission Ministries (...kind of a "gap 3 months" after college ;-)).

.......And he has made arrangements to share an apartment with some of his college buddies who are in the area.

-Widgeons are corkers.

MLBob,

It sounds as if your wife has been taking pointers from a hen Wood duck,,,,,,,,,,,,,, kick'em out and see if they fly!

Bob, Congrats on a job well done. Your son looks to be a quality person. Time dose go by quick.

He is my buddy JR and his first decoy. He has decoy bug.

And another shot pic of what I did to day. Made a out door shop area. For sanding and beer drinkin.

Nice porch, out to work well in the summer...all the cedar dust probably keeps the blood sucking bugs at bay. I assume there a a possibility of some flannel wearing and/or tabacco chewing to happen out there as well? Kind of reminds me of the appendage on the Rutgers Institute Library...

I like the outdoor work area. All my mess making occurs indoors. These 2 deeks are headed to Tilghman Island to go on sale at my sister's shop.
