What's on the Workbench in September...

Alot of nice stuff on here, maybe ill have something to show next month.
I just need to do some final work on the gooseduck and figure out the motor troubles. It wouldnt start earlier, had to paddle out.

i have ben working on decoys but i have also been doing some boat work the big boat got grass and the little boat is getting combing, grass rails, small thatch doors, and a dodger.

i have also been looking for ways to increase my gunning opportunities so i have wanting t ge into divers. i was given some sash weights and i bought enough line, clips, and made enough droppers for 4 75ft long longlines each with a dozen dekes now i need the dekes.

i have also been working on my beard hoping its going to be a cold winter

Boats look good...I thought I had a garbage pail full of unused broadbill decoys but they are pintail and woodies...sorry!

Took some real seamstress skills to get the canvas up to my standards...

Part of Two and a Half Swans I'm making for Tim Speight...Was hoping to be further along than this over the weekend, but the unforseen seems to always get in the way.

Hope to get the final seam sealer down tonight, and start slopping on white with a big barn brush Tuesday.

Best

Chuck,

Paint it red or green and you could always use it as a channel marker over on the Mississippi river!

PS. Not bad for a traffic cone. (I had forgot about that one, thanks for the reminder) hehe :>)

Ive been working on another bufflehead drake for a local VA forum Im on as a traveling decoy. The guys liked the one I did for the raffle so Ive made another. This is the first time Ive carved the same species back to back. I must say it will happen more often from here out. The things Ive learned and most importantly remembered to incorporate in the "next one" has help me learn a lot on this bird.

Drake head detail, the macro setting on the camera really brings out all of my little mishaps with the white paint!

I took some time to do some work on my own house this month. I put in a little outdoor kitchen and concrete patio. The wife is very happy that I won't be cleaning dead animals in the house anymore.

My work bench is mainly full of oak kitchen cabinets for a customer.

But I did manage to sqeeze in an attempt at a decoy head. It is a teal pattern from the book in the picture. It still needs a little work but getting close. Now I need to try and find the time to hack out a body for it to sit on.

That is sweet! Is there an overhang at all or are you stuck in the rain?
