Pulled out of the shop attic an old rig of 36 mallards and pintails. Made them in late 1980's. A guy gave me a bunch of 13 inch cedar telephone poles so that determined the length. I put a real high head on them, and rigged them with swing keels. they stayed out all duck season for 9 years. I retired them and have built several rigs since but always liked em. i borrowed influences from mason , Wisconsin museum school and michigan high necked birds. My buddies called them cartoon ducks. I got them out and touched up a few. I hope to piss off my buddies that say you cant decoy a duck to an alert posed decoy. Bob

Bob - I think both Tim Speight and I need to be with you when you try that boat out. Just to make sure it's sea worthy of course!

I couldn't help but play follow the leader. Great stuff Bob, Pat and Tim.

I've harnessed the Runnamuck force and am gonna have these painted and on the way to Canada with me on Saturday

One's a pintail, the other a mallard.

try a mix of two parts burnt umber to one part ultramarine blue for the base color--Also use for ticking on head--Head color--judiciously--titanium white, a bir of titan buff, bit of raw sienna, bit of burnt umber, bit of raw umber--Eye line and crown/nape of neck-burnt umber--When dry, tick with the blackduck mix, which is great for making grays-mallards, sprig, teal, yadda, yadda.

Dave, safe trip to manitoba, and hopefully, sask--The prarie oasis, in moosejaw, is about 15 miles from mortlach. Call Larry and Eva Drake for directions on how to get to farm--boat and dekes are there. Mahzeltov--Leave a day later and come to the challenge!! Don't forget to pack your snuggies!!!!

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try this week.

This particular thread is one of my all time favorites to monitor. I really enjoy looking at what everyone is working on no matter what it is.
