What's your "go to" gun?

Well, on most other waterfowl sites I go by "Pumpgunner" if that tells you anything...main waterfowl gun is my 870 Super Magnum although I almost never shoot 3 1/2" shells out of it. I also have my dad's 1963 Ithaca 37 that I like to use for pheasant, I love that gun and would love to hunt ducks with it but it has a 2 3/4" chamber and a 30" fixed full choke barrel. I am planning to start reloading some ITX shot for it so I can take it to the marsh. Big game is with my wife's grandfather's pre-64 Model 70 in .30-06 that I was fortunate enough to inherit. I have been lucky enough to take elk, mule deer, and antelope with it and I don't know of a sweeter rifle.

In the last 29 years I have grown very fond of the cycling of the A-5 action and the feel against my shoulder. I shoot an O/U when my son grabs the Browning before me.

Shoot a super Vinci 90% of the time. Not the nicest gun by any means but it's a tool to me and one helluva of lightweight perfect shouldering and shooting tool. Anytime I'm just goose hunting or taking a gun onto the salt it's my Winchester sx2 that's been camp dipped. Is a great goose gun.

But my heart still pulls me to SxS's. I'm a sucker for a fine double. Sold all my O/Us because I never used them but can't sell my SxS doubles. I know someday ill slow down and stop shooting as much and I'm pretty sure a SxS will be my choice then. But for now a 26" benelli is what fits me like a charm

The same gun for over 40 years, LH remington 1100, 30" full 3" mag. I even have the same gun as a back up that I got from Phil Eager on this site. By the way Phil I got the gun compleatly redone by Gary Donovan this past year it looks and shoots like a dream

In 1954, I began duck hunting with a Winchester model 12 sweet 16. In 1956, I bought a Browning A-5 12 gauge 3" model with a 32" full choke barrel and ventilated rib. I used that for almost 50 years then switched to a Benelli Nova. Safety and sand is why I changed guns. I have never seen a gun like this that can take such a pounding and still keep on doing what its supposed to do. A very well built gun.

Like many of us I learned to hunt with an old hand me down single barrel, then moved to a Remington 1100 for many years, before picking up a SBE, but I must say I have enjoyed my best season of shooting this year with a vintage 20 ga SxS.

I grew up on a Rem 870 Wingmaster but I prefer the classic looks and feel of a S x S. I'm currently using an Antonio Zoli 12ga double.

Steve, the majority of the time i hunt with an over/under, the weather will have to be really nasty before i will bring out the synthetic stocked autoloader.

I like my pumps for the reliability. Can't find anything to say bad about my Remington 870 that I have owned for almost 25 years and effectively hunted just about every normal game animal that I could. I hunt more now with a Benelli.......but just a Nova and just as reliable.
