Wife is away,,,,

I do love that combo of duck and wild rice, that is just about the best.

Try to behave with the warden away.

👍 Always nice for the "forbidden" fruits to be taken. :)

When my wife is away I do liver and onions and fried oysters.

Me too while the cat is away it's duck venison doves squirrel etc. She says "lips that touch varmints shall never touch mine". Although she sometimes falls weak and cannot resist my venison chili , or even squirrel dumplings .

Just need a nice porter or stout to go with it and it doesnt get much better than that.

A great post which begs the question....

What do we cook up when "management" is away?
I begin a steady diet of red meat entrees via smoking and grilling. The first meal I cooked my wife 35 years ago was a wild goose dinner. With the first bite she started grinning and I wondered what was up, she replied, this is good...do you shoot many of "these?" After her long 4 hour drive it was a late dinner, so she could have been famished, and words are spoken in the "dating phase" that may change later in a marriage. But 35 years later and sharing and enjoying meals of wild waterfowl, fish, venison and elk, her only comment is at times, can I cook up some chicken?

There has never been a difference in "whatz cookin", in our home when my wife is here or not here, or anyone else for that matter.

Wild game is what I was brought up on, and prefer. Very little store bought meat. My wife loves venison, so that is what I hunt. As in "makes my mouth water" hunt. Like I need more incentive.... [;)]

Waterfowl, and upland game can be used in so many different and savory ways the list seems endless. If it is not the primary reason to hunt, and kill. I cannot wrap my head around that.

The kitchen is the heart of a home is the way I was brought up.

From what I see here there are some very good cooks on Duckboats, and that is a wonderful thing.

Those must be some pretty big ducks to get steaks like that. [;)]

Carl,
Those look like just a slice of meat from a thigh. See the leg bone in the middle. I imagine a breast from one of those would feed a small army.

Ya never killed GIANT CANADA geese?

They have a statue of one in Wawa, Ontario.

When they hit the ground they make a helluva thud.

Then ya gotta drag em out, no dog work, unless sled dog...

Bob,

I gotta tell ya... It is very rewarding being a member of duckboats for so many reasons.

Ya made me smile, and then laugh like hell. A very good way to start a day.

Thank You!

Best regards
Vince
