The "best" grass boat for two hunters and a dog? TDB vs DuckBoss?

Here are some more pictures. I got lucky when I found this boat used. It was built by David Clark of Estuary duck boats. It’s 23 years old but still hunts well.

Beautiful. The fact that boat was built by Dave says a lot in a good way. Funny because when I saw the first pics you posted, I thought to myself it has an Estuary-like color and finish.

I have a Scaup too. I would not consider it a grass boat as it is not a shallow hull. Not sure what Devlin specs it at, but it does have a V and is deepest in the midship.

I thought the same thing!

I hunt a 16 Scaup. Plenty of room for 2, can fit a dog but plan on getting wet ! The dog could also fit on the forward deck.

I owned this boat last year. Purchased from Dave and hunted it once only after to realize that the structural runners were seamed while constructing the boat. There are structural problems hidden in this boat which was why I returned it to Dave and call him out on this. Hope he corrected things before he sold it back to you.

Mike, that DI looks awesome. I’m looking to get a blind made like that for next season. Right now my set up is a new db13 with a spray shield and flaps. I have a 30 hp on the back. Also the on the fly jack plate is a great idea. I will be adding that
I’ve hunted a South Bay the pass 20 years. It’s my favorite boat. Only problem was I can’t bring a friend and my dog. The Duck boss in my opinion is perfect for hunting the great South Bay marsh. It hunts just as low as a South Bay, rides better than a South Bay and everything is fiberglass! Not to mention having a transom built into the boat is a huge plus for strength. I snapped several transoms on my South Bay. They were professionally built. The pros of the duck boss
1. All fiber glass construction
2. Low profile
3. Strong transom with well bilge system
4. Hunts two 200lb guys and a 90lb lab easy
Only real Con is the draw is about 2” deeper then a South Bay. I’m 28 years old I can drag that boat out of any hole. What sucks is it has a long shaft transom. So the longshaft does not work well in shallow drive. But easy fix for next season is an on the fly jack plate. Should be mint after that

Your boat is looking good too! It must fly with a 30! I've been hunting 2 guys since this thread started, and there is enough room for us.
I'm 60! Can you imagine that? I still don't believe it, lol, and I make sure not to get stuck in the mud. Last week I did have to drag it out about 20' at a lousy flat ramp at low tide. Luckily it was mostly floating, the bottom was just dragging a bit.
The jack plate was a game changer for me. Luckily it's mounted so it still sucks, and spits water in the up position. I got a hydraulic jack plate, easy as pushing a button! My boat has a short shaft transom.
