January Workbench

My daughter did her magic on a couple of my Barrows. She tried one with green and purple hues and one with black and purple. It's an interesting concept depending on lighting and the bird.

Really nice decoys in all these posts - very talented folks! I can tell this site is going to feed my addictive nature. I make metal reed calls... if I actually build my own boat I can see I'm going to have to learn to make some of my own decoys, too. Maybe it would be better if I hadn't found this site!:giggle:

its really not recommended... I havent been so excited for a season to end since I even knew waterfowl. I am burnt out on waking up early, getting out of bed at 2 am, and kind of cant wait to spend a day in the shop manipulating foam and airbrushing. I may not make the january workbench, but I should surely make the Feb one. Really not sure what birds I am going to do first yet... time will tell.

Not everything but I do enjoy the restoration process. Those vintage Bridgeport Boy Scout hatchets are rusty. Been on the to do list for two years. I eventually get things done.

Inbetween hunts and being sick I've been making a hammer rack. Almost done. Need to sand, apply finish, and mount to the wall. Should help tidy up some old hammers I restored that have been lying all over the bench.

Nice work Eric, I spy some lock joint work on the top. Keeping the machine busy?

I built a simple hammer rack years ago that keeps the handles vertical to take up less shop space.

Yep, the Morgan Lock Corner machine was used for the project. I settled on this design due to space requirements and the tight spot where it will go. I need to access from the front so I made it where the hammers pull straight out, kind of like a wine rack. The hammers are held in place by gravity. The below pic shows what I'm talking about.

Pretty looking work Eric. Those hammers look a little too nice to use. I think Id move the jackets to the bottom row so the blades don't bang my knuckles when removing a tool from a lower row.

Working.... working.... holding my 100#er Toivo. He's a cuddlebug not a hunter. STILL making a few calls and pens and shotglasses when not working. Adopted a new little kitten Lovia. Took 4 months but now the kids are best friends. Quit hunting when I retired Gordy. 45 years chasing ducks and 35 years in retail I enjoy the quite of my woodshop and no human contact anymore.
