    BBIII update

Here is where I am now. I am ready to sheath the exterior this weekend. Tools of the wire pulling trade Ready to pull the chine wires. Get them out of the way before tackling the keel wires. I cut out the motor well and filled all the holes with epoxy. I also trimmed all the...

    Glassing Hull, Pictures and Questions

Charlie - Looking great! I am up on the Eastern Shore (Chincoteague) this weekend and will be glassing my hull this weekend. I'll post some pics when I get home tonight of my progress this far. Brandon - I have taped first. I figured that I would get a smoother finish if I glassed over the...

    Started Fairing the hull(pics)

Someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I think what he is talking about with the rounding of the edges is that you needed to get them rounded so that the kevlar will make the corner, but you might want to think about building up that corner again on the transom edge. The reason is...

Ready for "The Flip" with pics

I went ahead and planed and sanded all the edges first and will go back and fill any gaps with wood flower mixture. It will cause me to resand after the cure but I think I will get a better fill on the gaps by taking any excess wood out of the way. I haven't been able to work on it all this week...

I need some direction with what to do...

I think that the boxed boat trailer from HarborFreight is a steel painted one. May not be what your looking for but its only $379.99. You can do what I did and just search thru CraigsList and find a boat and trailer for sale. Sell off the boat and you have your trailer. I found a guy selling a...

Does the sprite and pineapple juice work for most species of ducks or mainly the teal?

Sorry about that. I ment to mention that. I got the medium/thin epoxy.

RAKA and US compsites From a new Boat builders view.

Brandon - its weird that you said that US Composites didn't really know much about boatbuilding. The following quote is from a post I made when I ordered my stuff from them... "I never checked out Raka, I went right away with US Composites. After reading about the differences on this site it...

    bb3 questions

I'm not sure I know what you mean by the aft motorwell components. My longitudals (Station 8) are sandwiched between the transom bulkhead (Station 6) and the floatation bulkheads (Station 7). I did have to custom cut my longitudals and my transom because I did what Ray talked about and tilted my...

    bb3 questions

Just to be sure we are on the same page, is the largest part of the gap on the far left and right of the bulkhead? If so, I had the same issue although not as much of a gap. Maybe an inch or less. I just rechecked my measurements for the bulkhead and once I was confident that they were correct I...

    BBIII update

Brandon - glad to know that you're getting started. Answers to your questions. There wasn't any were specified that you should use the biax. Just as you said, I thought they would be high stress areas and wanted to beef them up. I got the tape from US Composites. It doesn't have a "finished"...

    BBIII update

After all the filleting and motor work here is where I stand for now. All corners have been filleted and the entire cockpit and storage area got a couple of coats of epoxy. I did not use the biax tape on the inside bulkheads. I only used it on the keel and chine seams and the transom. I used a...

    BBIII update

Continuing on... I sold my motorcycle to get this. The bike needed a lot of work anyway. It was advertised on Craigslist as a short shaft but when I got it home (didn't even measure before I bought it. Lesson learned. First time buying an out board.) I discovered that it is in fact a long...

    BBIII update

Its been a while since the last update. Sorry for that, just busy filleting, filleting, and filleting. All done with the inside of the boat as far as the filleting goes. I still need to sand and fair everything on the inside but I think I am going to move to the bottom of the boat for a change...

Got this from my county league rep... Interesting.

Bob - I wasn't able to play the video from that site but when I clicked on the image and not the play but it directed me to You Tube and it played fine. Thanks. This report needs to be played on national TV. That guy got a real raw deal and if we are not careful we will be in the same boat...

Got this from my county league rep... Interesting.

I just went to the site and the video is no longer available. Hillery and Obama blocked it I guess.

    BBIII update

Thanks guys. Custom cut and lots of peanut butter. I probably won't get to it till later on this week but I'll let you know how it goes. Have I mentioned how great this site is? What a informative, funny and thoughtful group. Not necessarily in that order though!

    BBIII update

Tod: Thats just luan right now on bulkhead 2. It looks like it has been water damaged but its just the "grain" of what ever they make luan out of. I had the wires bent back but straightened them to loosen them up a little. I got some a little too tight. There is a method that I'll use to...
