    what gun do you use

Started with a Remington 1100 three inch magnum in 1976; still keep it handy to take to the blind as a backup when other folks' weapons don't work...and it shoots well for everybody. Went to an 1187 in 1988 to be able to use 2 3/4" shells in the dove field and have had it in and out of the...

Kalash Layout shakedown..wet but not bloodied 1/7/12

Yep, it is a Kalash boat, transported down from Michigan in 1983 , if memory serves. I shipped out for Germany after that, so it spent most of its life in a buddy's tobacco barn down in North Carolina. Most bird activity it has seen was the nesting residue I took out of it when I retrieved it...

    Otter Decoys Question

Worth, the Otters are shipped empty with an orange "butt plug" to seal the open tube in the body. I have filled some bigger birds with a permanent concrete/sand mix for sea duck duty, and put only enough sand to provide ballast in some puddle ducks. You could haul them in empty, then fill them...

    Different ideas for DU fundraisers?

Ed. years ago a couple of us were involved in starting a chapter up near West Point, NY. We found the things that really drew interest were the "unique" kinds of things that weren't offered elsewhere. Teaming with some local conservation groups and some of the State guys, we auctioned off...

Update on the phone call you don't want..

Howard, as Ben Franklin used to say "A good conscience is a continual Christmas" and you should be enjoying the holiday, despite the circumstances. After watching your builds on this website, there was never a doubt regarding the role of the boat itself. Glad it worked out and the season...

    Cutting Grass Rails

I have an old South Bay boat whose wooden grass rails need to be replaced...what type of plastic do you use to make your rails? Any particular pattern in use? My boat has a one inch oak strip atop nylon spacers that are screwed through into the deck. Thanks!

Gorgeous lines, brute force, half clad beauty queens (Suprise ending)

Nice shots! Aircraft in question appears to be a Douglas Skyraider, a Navy attack bird that flew for about 30 years for our Navy, our Air Force, and a number of other nations.
