    Tips for buying an A5?

There is no gas operated A5, the new ones are inertia driven as well. Browning calls it "Kinematic Drive", in my opinion, basically a Benelli with a humpback and recycled name. Paul - I'm not sure what your after, but I have owned 4 12 gauge A5s in the past 10 years. The Mag 12 was just too...

    White pine

I've got a 12x12x12 box of old growth white pine head stock. If you're interested shoot me a note and I get some average measurements. Lengths are a mix but HxW are pretty consistent.

    older alumacraft, lund, crestliner v-bottom

I picked up an 18' Starcraft v-hull for a buddy down in TN. She was in my possession for a week until he picked it up, if he wouldn't have ever picked it up that would have been fine with me. I really enjoyed that boat in the short time I had it. He is 2 years into owning it now and still talks...

Bean's Coastals - need help with vintage

@ 18" they are Coastals. The Deluxe Mags were about 19" long but were also 5" tall and had a "depression" that accentuated the primaries.

Bean's Coastals - need help with vintage

Interesting. I thought only the Deluxe magnums were doweled through the keel, with no screw. Thanks

Bean's Coastals - need help with vintage

Steve - Are they all doweled through the keel like the photo, or do some have the flat head screw and washer?

    Don Warren BBSB

Bill - I had a "Classic Barnegat" by Kirk Sherbine (member) I think that is a Don Warren hull. Let me know what you want to know.

    Yeti type coolers

I have an ORCA (Yeti knock-off, made in TN) that I really like. The only true con for me is weight. Like Dani said, once they are cold they stay cold. For trips when things need to stay frozen for extended periods (3+ days) plan on sacrificing a 7lb bag of ice to "prep" the cooler. I've made...

    First cork decoys

I wouldn't throw them around too much. Herters heads are fragile.

    Decoy identification

What you have are magnums by todays standards; LL Bean offered two sizes Coastal and Coastal Magnum, you have Coastal's. The older decoys, yours included, are of MUCH higher quality than the decoys they sell now. Today's Bean decoys are better suited for a life on a shelf. Depending on...

    Decoy identification

Not much for the ones with Herters heads. LL Beans 20-40 depending on condition. I just picked up 3 pintails with good original paint for 100 shipped to me, pintails are a little harder to find than mallards and black ducks.

    Decoy identification

Those look like homemades with Herters heads. The birds with wood heads are LL Beans, generally hens were low head and drakes were high heads.
