Pic #2 is a Herters 63 head. They used that for all thier diver species except Cans. Those heads are pretty non-descript, with a little paint you could make them whatever you want. Although I agree, they resemble Scaup the most.

I couldn't agree more, I love hunting this time of year. Fewer people out, more species, and smaller spreads. I hunted yesterday afternoon with a spread of 4 decoys. It's always a nice hunt when you leave with more ducks than decoys.

Search the monthly "workbench" threads for a style you like and contact the carver. You'll get nice gunning blacks at that price point. Good luck with the search, there are lots of options.
