I am looking for a Zodi Tent Heater. These have been discontinued for some time but I have a project where this would be a great start. ANyone have an old one sitting around they want to get rid of or know where one can be found? Or experience with them or ever taken one apart to see how hey work?

Thanks -

Mark

Yep, this is what I'm looking for. Unfortunately Zodi stopped producing these some time back. Heard it was due to safety concerns with the 12V battery running out of power which then caused the fan to not run which caused parts to melt and catch fire.

I found one near me and am on my way to buy it to see how it works. I have a great plan to solve the fan problem.

I've been reading a lot about Diesel tent heaters lately. Seen people using these in everything from diy campers, tents, RVs, duck blinds. Might be something to look into.

It was on the radar. They used to be quite expensive but not so much anymore. Diesel has some disadvantages that I don't like. Mostly having to deal with the fuel and putting this slim anyones car.

Keep the suggestions coming.

The diesel heater was what I was going to suggest. As they have gotten cheaper people are using them in a lot of settings. They would smell like diesel messing with the fuel, but I guess it isnt' too bad.

I have a couple of kerosene heaters that we used during black outs before we bought a back-up generator to keep the heat on. Two of them kept our pretty small house well above freezing for up to three days if we moved them around a bit to keep the cold corners warm. Too big and bulky for an ice house or other portable use. Might work well in a permanent dry blind or shed.

Is a diesel heater any different from kerosene? K1 is a lot cheaper than on-road diesel fuel. Some local gas stations also have off-road diesel. I don't know if that's any different from K-1. Never seen both at the same place.

Dunno know the pros and cons I'm going on what I'm seeing discussed, what I do know is that the new cheap diesel heaters are getting used a lot (marine, rv and in camps) and no one hardly talks about kerosene heaters for those uses anymore.

We has esbar heaters in an our trucks at work. No idea of model etc but they rip hot dry heat. Also probably the most expensive ones. Definitely noisy btwn the fan and the ticking of injectors but in the right use I totally think they’re the cats meow.

I have one of the Vevor diesel heaters heating my project shed (12x16) and it does a pretty good job. i understand they make them for both 12V and 110 now. They will be fine with K-1 or Diesel. I belong to a couple forums on them as well, and the only consistent issues I see are when people try to experiment with things like used motor oil, vegetable oil etc.. They are real similar if not exactly like a Webco diesel heater my fathers sailboat used for a cabin heater. And just so long as you pay attention to the exhaust vent I haven't had any diesel smell issues. Mine is the older 12V only system, but I just use a lawn tractor battery with a 110V maintenance charger hooked it. I'm happy with it.
