December "What's on your Workbench?"

Now that these are done, I can get back to decoys. I have a new appreciation for Santa's elves!

Do you do decoys like the Black Duck on your Profile.
I am looking for a "Black Duck" Decoy. If you do please email me on pricing. Merry Christmas, Dave D.

Bonsoir Mr Dominski,

For sure i continu to make decoy, i just stop competition ...

I have another black duck in stock at the best art gallery : The ducktrap bay trading co.

http://www.ducktrapbay.com/

The black the is here : http://www.ducktrapbay.com/art-content/black-duck , but maybe it another one ... Few years ago i carved 2-3 black by year .. and this one it the last in stock ... but if you prefer a new one ... it the same price but very more in preening pose .. possibility late late in 2012 or in 2013 ..

I think the price is close to 10 000$USD , maybe you can deal a little bit. The price look high but it the regular price for this size of decoy for me. I have a commission malard pair to do in 2012 .. look here for the step by step in january ... , the same customer make a commission for a peregrine falcon and maybe a red tailed hawk ...

Have a good day

Stefane

you can see more on my web page but it not up-to date

www.bougie.rocler.com

For what i have on the bench .. a lot of taxidermy ...

Here the biggest buck i have to made .. and the customer ask to keep the skin like he kill it ...

Have a wonderfull time ...

Been working on this decoy stand for the past 2 weeks it's made from Bolivian Rosewood with a Polyacrylic satin finish, it will be home to a fine Jode Hillman decoy. been busy this month and should have some sea ducks to share in the next few days.

Larry the stool looks really nice but the wood jumps out at me. Bolivian Rosewood! Oh crap I'm breaking out just looking at pictures. I turned a duck call from Bolivian Rosewood, aka Morado, aka Pau Ferro, and the reaction on my skin to the dust was like nothing I've ever experienced and I've had some nasty poison ivy over the years. All the skin on my hands peeled and the itching about led me to insanity. I missed three days of work and went through two rounds of steriods and topical ointments to get over it.

It certainly is a beautiful wood but it is also seems to affect a lot of woodworkers. To anyone else out there attracted by this eye pleasing wood Beware!

I read that when I was looking online for finish suggestions, didnt seem to bother me agreed it is a pretty wood and is really why I had chose it, originally was going to use a Cherry and saw this scrap piece at the lumbermill that was sitting there. I have some more if anyone would like one of these decoy stands I would be happy to make them one

Finished up this can a few days ago..........

Something told me when I saw this picture a few days ago this maybe my decoy. I've been admiring Jode's work for over 10 years, now I finally have a piece of work from the KING of Carvers! What better example of your work than the KING of ducks. I may even bring this with me next year to Ontario and float it when I try to harvest my 1st Canvasback! Thanks Jode, this was a great Christmas present from my Mom.

Thanks Charlie. I hear you got something special for Chrismas too? How 'bout showing it off!?

Thanks Larry.
I am glad you like it. My picture has poor lighting but it shows the overall shape etc. I drew this pattern up especially for you.
Happy holidays, Jode

Man you guys are inspiring! There's a lot of beautiful birds being done.

I'm just getting started and am still carving with the pink foam. One of these days I'll try some wood!!!

Here's a bobtail GE I just finished and put in the water this morning.
