December workbench thread

Sorry, no decoys this year, but have a scored cylinder from the BB2 to put on the workbench. Happened while scouting for ducks the week before season opened. Arrg.

its been a slow go for me on decoys these days. I hope to turn that around. These will be a gift for a friend. Hollow cedar and oils.

I am liking everything posted so far, except the cylinder picture. That is a definite bummer.

update on my girl's Christmas swans. Third layer of white on them right now. Possibly one more thin layer of very warm white and they will be done except all the little things.

Finished putting texture on more birds over the weekend and this a.m.
Lots of decoys waiting to be painted.
Bitter temps here, and the truck in the shop today for brakes. Watching what's happening with the River day by day. Shot up past the action stage with the precip. & snowfall we've had; headed down to manageable levels by early next week.
A trip with my old college roomie & our wives coming up mid-week, so both the hunting & the painting will have to wait.

Bill, Phil,

Thanks for the kind words on the wigeon. As far as RI, we're watching the weather, I wish the meteorologists knew their Azz from their Elbow. Dragging the boat home last year through a large snow storm took 4 hours (2 hrs norm.), not fun! But most of the time the weather events end up way less impressive than they are predicted to be.

Finished these after the season closure, so I'll fib and call them December carving and painting...

Now that season is over and winter is setting in I got a base coat of oils on them. Shouldn't be long before I finish them up...

Yikes! What great work - and lots of it. Everything looks wonderful but I especially like the backs on all those Greenheads.

All the best,

SJS

Dave, I too am excited to see those finished up. Why don't you post up your inspiration for those birds? I like how you made them your own. The tails are sweet.

Just base coating after finding some inspiration this past week:) It feels so good to be back in the shop - even if it's just for an hour... These will be BWT for next years early season rig.

I LIKE A LOT!!!!!!

Working hard to get these bsc guys ready to join Lord Yooper on Saturday's RI hunt:

Hope the paint drys in time to rig them.

Scott

Widgeon look good. Let us know jow RI is. Ill ne headed up there next weekend.

Bob, I know you have heard this before from me via the old MLB site days but it warrants repetition, your work captures the essence of the species. Mr. Wooster is smiling right now...!
