February Workbench Thread

Jim the modified wingbone calls are very, very nice. Definitely a leap forward from their forefathers and a great piece of work for any turkey call collector/user.

Here is a simple cork gunner with bottom board and tail insert. Painted in oil from a pattern I drew up last month. Had an idea what I wanted put it on paper and then onto wood and cork. It came out exactly as I wanted it too, now I need to do some more for the rig and make some girls to match.

Tom great bird. Its going to look even better with a few pellet holes and scuffs on it.

Here is my work bench today. Took a long time to clean them all and yes those paints on the plate are all the colors I was using.. did a little mixing on the decoy.

For the first time I actually get to post something in these threads, these are my first 2 decoys. Many thanks to the Rutgers Institute for all the help and instruction as well as a place to drink a few cold ones, spit on the floor, and shoot the bull. I haven't even been here 2 months but I think I'm going to like living in Michigan.

Jon they look good. I'll have to get caught up with you on carving and well paint up some more! Glad we were able to steer you down the right path!

My wife had twins pretty early in the pregnancy last month, so between hospital visits i drew up this gadwall and roughed him out. It was a free handed pattern on the back of some scrap paper in between baby visits. my first gawall. Modeled after a drake i saw in the park next to my house a couple weeks ago skimming duck weed, and influended by the older LA Vidocavich birds (mostly in the tail). I am happy so far. head temporarily held by Canada Dry, as it doesn't exactly stay on there.
