Im new to carving but with the help of Jim Williams and Pat Gregory I have managed to carve these birds. Still working on paint etc....hope to float and hunt the rig in fall of "13". So, February has been a busy month thus far.

David,

I'd say you've been busy! I'd like to see a bigger picture of all of them. If you need help with the resizing, email me a pic and I can insert it into your post.

What Dave failed to mention was that this is the second batch of birds that's he's making this first season of carving. His very first birds (nicknamed the Dwarves because they are 7 small stout birds) were created in just about a week, and had birds killed over them the first time they were placed into service.

Dave is a madhatter decoy maker that has set out to conquer the world...in this case that means complete a rig of 24 gunning decoys before the spring competitive shooting season begns.

Stand back and give him room, but be careful to not encourage him too much or we're going to need a bigger boat : )

Let me guess, young guy, no wife, no kids...wild guess??? Or smart guy, undrestanding wife, kids out of the house...

Tim,

Angel? Well,.... OK I guess. More like appathetic to my hobbies. But thanks for the kind words. Never been compared to the Mad Hatter before, most comparissions have been less complementary :). Pat is going to teach me hollow body birds in May, and I will be doing a couple of canvas backs. Its fun learning from you local guys and reading the educational and entertaining threads on duckboats. But back to the reloading machines, I have a match tommarrow.

All I can say about Dave, these days, if he's not shooting something, he's carving something...

By the way, I proudly display 2 of the 7 Dwarves on my shelves. I have Dumpy and Dopey... :)

"Dumpy" is a good name for stool

Dave is a retired guy with an angel for a wife

So my second guess of smart guy was correct...the smart guys get the good wives...you know, guys like me...my problem is I work 70-80 hours a week
