February Workbench Thread

Geoff, strangely enough, i have always worked that way, even when i was working! Took the stress out of the day--I just kinda like working in multiples--Studio was chaotic when i painted, too-up to ten BIG pieces at once, at times. One thing at a time just does not fit the way my head workLike the smile on the whistler, btw!

Sean, that redhead pair got me fired up! makes me want to venture out into my cold shop. would love to see some more pics of them. best, mark

I like the mergs. Not to cause any more trouble I was thinking the birds Tim liked would make great old squaws!
You going to the Ohio show? John

Dang Sean. Those are gorgeous. The Readheads and Mallards are my favorites.

Geoff, Thanks the eye channel has just developed as part the way I am carving my heads. I think it would be hard to get rid of if I tried to. I know you said you don't sand a lot but that decoy is so clean its almost a shame to paint it. I think you define "a lot" different then the rest of us.

John, If the ringneck does not work out in paint Ill try squaws next and if that does not work Ill go to widgeon. Only problem is the drake has yellow eyes. Ill be at westlake (strongsville) will I see you there?

I agree with you Geoff they are fantastic. I like the wardish head on that bird.

John I hope Brandon shows up he said he would buy me a beer after Geoff's class on Friday

Brandon & Tom
I'll be at the class on Friday and all day Saturday. If I can get them done I hope to enter the rig on Sunday.
We should set up a place to meet. John

I am not too hard to recognize. Look for the only person wearing bib overalls and a yellow Missouri hat.

great pair Jode, I really like the color on the drakes head nice touch.

Here are a pair I have been working on and have repainted. Had to set them down and call them done.

Jode,
Its slow going at the moment on those decoys. I am working on getting them all sealed but I won't be able to do any paint till next week. They should be in this months thread though. I really like that head position and style on that Drake. Its very old school and the hand vermiculation is killer as always I just spent at least 15 minutes looking at it again.
