Been in the shop now that we've warmed up to around zero. Making a lot of progress on a batch of harlequins, buffleheads, and a commission for a pair of common GoldenEyes. Busy winter

That looks pretty ambitious. I can't turn around in the shop without running into a goldeneye. Our season ends a week from tomorrow and then a lot of them will either be sold or put away.

Long long winter so I have time to work on them.

that's right, you are retired now. Busier than every, but doing what you love to do rather than what you have to do.

19 degrees above here this morning, the shop is hovering around 54, so i put on a sweatshirt and a hooded fly fishing shirt and it was pretty comfy. i can remember going from 50 below to 30 above overnight, people walking around in short sleeves, downright balmy. We even had a barbecue on the Tanana after church.

I spent the day in the shop rounding out harlequin heads. When I walked out this afternoon I got a nice pleasant view. Love AK in winter. It has it's own cold beauty

Making progress. I got all the harlequin heads rounded out and sanded. Working on bodies this week. It dropped back down to minus 30. Gotta get the wood stove going and get the shop warm brrr...
My daughter cut out a bunch of mini decoys. She's having fun doing those. Granddaughter is playing with my lab. It was a nice Sunday

Just finished painting 2 drakes myself.

There you go, love them bufflehead. We only saw a handful this year, but we were covered up in bluebill and goldeneye.

Making progress. 4 out of 8 all rounded out. These working harlequins will get sanded and sealed in the next week or so. I'll send them to my daughter for one of her paint jobs.

I guess this will be the last hurrah for January 2026. It's the start of several days of painting on divers and then move on to a bunch of puddlers.
