Dave,
What is that thing made of wood? I am confused. Looks good.

Can't tell if you're razzing me about my foamer past or the paint stand :D If it's the stand, I had to cut holes so my drill could get through to the screw heads. If it's the foamers, well, a means to an end... :D I'm almost out of cork, too-- don't hate it but probably won't use it much in the future for a number of reasons.

Yep it was a poke at your "dark" past. The holes in the stands are a great idea I always end up using a stubby screw driver and doing it by hand. I bet your way is faster.

Michael~

Great bird! Hollow cedar? or just the bottom board?

Also - I cannot figure out today's competition categories. Is there a class within which this bird could compete (viz. the rules) ?

All the best,

SJS

Thanks Steve!

The body is cedar and head is tupelo. This was judged in the IWCA Open Class. There only a few shows that sponsor IWCA style decoys. Other shows might have a contemporary or fancy gunning division that would fall into the same style decoys.

I can say one thing....painting fish is a WHOLE NEW WORLD!

This is the third try at this one and I finally followed my own advice and put down the paint brush before I made a mess.

Gonna put a few finishing touches on this one and it will be part of the auction at the Barta Billfish Tournament in Beaufort, NC this weekend. bartabillfish.com
