The reason that some "sportsmen" probably voted for Obama is that they are not single issue voters. Such as you want to take my guns so I am not voting for you. But, on the other hand, Obama may be doing more for the type of job they have or their current economic situation ect.ect. So they are deciding that I can live with some more gun restrictions because Obama is going to help me in this way or that way. Doesn't necessarily make them wrong, they are making the choice what is best FOR THEM. What's best for them is necessarily best for me. Obama wants to tax my business more and tax my income more. These other people may work for some company and because of Obama's "plan" they will get better health benefits. So to them, they may have a loved one with serious health issues and better benefits means more to them than the ability to own an AR-15 or MAC-90. Doesn't make them wrong. They are voting on what is right for them and what's right for them and their family conditions may not always right for you or me.
If Obama is going through with his share the wealth plan, I will mail him my diploma, tell him to take over my $100,000 in student loans (8 plus years of school) and I am going on welfare because there is no point in me working any harder for you to take more of my money.
Shit hit the fan,
Mike I understand that there are many more issues here than gun ownership and those issues dictated how people voted. My points were that (1) if people can be so willing to give up the 2nd amendment (sportsmen in particular) because the government says to, what other rights will they be willing to give up and (2) even though there are all those other issues, does anyone honestly believe that a good majority of young black 1st time voters and those who are older and also were 1st time voters did so out of political persuasions and not the color of one mans skin? As much as many political pundits will hate and probably never admit, race played a huge part in this election. The saving grace behind this election may be that other countrys who despise/hate us so, will see us in a different light. If that helps to insure a more positive future for my and your grandchildren, then it will be worth it. But his socialistic views scare me in regards to this countrys future. His comment that those of us who resist more taxes are selfish was only another example of his thinking. I resist more taxes for the simple reason I can't afford anymore. I sympathize with you on his redistribution plan as my youngest son who is in his 2nd year of a Major in Micro Biology program has stated the same thing. My oldest sons FIL owns a small business with 15 employees and he has told me he will, in all likelyhood, have to close it down as Obamas tax plan would make it impossible for him to make his payroll.
