September Workbench

Steve,
That killdeer is classy, smooth as silk.

Chuck,
Shouldn't there be a hole in the seat to be a proper throne?

Tim

These were supposed to be ready for teal this morning.... Not quite ready yet

Great job, everyone. Here is a canvasback to be auctioned off at our local DU dinner. It was on my "bench" for about three years waiting to be painted. HD cork and basswood head...

a lot of great birds posted up since my trip to and from Texas. I got in about 10 minutes of carving on those yella legs Steve.

Bob - I wish I was in that pool with your teal the last 3 days. Today especially was a scorcher. After 3 days of it, I'm convinced the only birds that like 90 degrees are pelicans... Lots of them...

Looks to be better next weekend...

Nice decoys... Pat

Built prototype of two off three and its time to order some cork . Gonna run with it and build a rig to hunt over this year . Time is ticking ! Happy with the size of the birds even after resizing for nesting reasons. Half inch bottom board and tail insert will make up the size i shaved off .

I don't see any reason to pick on Chuck. Well that's not true. But I don't think we should pick on him for carving coots.

I'm glad I posted pictures of the chair, as my decoy pictures just weren't bringing the love...

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Chuck

Chuck~

I certainly don't want to contaminate all of the love in the air, but I can't help but wonder why YOUR chairs do not have seats and backs of canvas.....

All the best,

SJS

I'm with Steve... I am so surprised. Are you jumping the fence and giving up your needle and apron? What about your career on Project Runway??? You were so looking forward to meeting Heidi Klum or, was that Tim???

This pair of chairs dates back to my pre-seamstress days. Besides, fiberglass is a type of cloth, that should count for something.

Thanks Brandon i like a soft look but its hard to wash over cork like you can wood . I was more interested in the size and how they would look in the water. I cut out heads today for the hole rig . Tails and bottom boards next .

Rick~

I like the paint and attitudes on both birds - very nice!

Here's a "half-size" (9" LOA) Wood Duck Flyer ready for sealing and priming. Iwill also put a staple in its back so it can be hung from the rafters.

These drakes - watercolors - are for a birthday card for my older brother. Although it's been a long time since he's had any red hair, he was called "Redhead" for many years.

Plenty "on the bench" right now...two wood stoves being tuned up, my old Scooter rehabbed, the Upland Sandpiper needs final paint, our upstairs bathroom needs a new floor, and about 3 full cords of firewood up on Champlain need splitting....

'Tis a fine time of year,

SJS
