Thomas had a great day. Me, not so much.

I've been hunting one time so far this season. Just haven't been motivated and have been wanting to get some stuff done at the workshop. Today he went hunting and I went to the shop. On the way to the shop I called and told him I'd start hunting regularly tomorrow and we made plans for tomorrow. Several hours later I get a text with a picture attached of Thomas with a big grin. Look close and you will see why. It's his first band. He and a couple friends went on to kill their limits of bull cans while I was setting new knives in my planer. That is until I reached to tighten a screw and raked my knuckle on a freshly sharpened knife. So instead of spending three hours in the ER I could have witnessed "hundreds of cans decoying" as Thomas described it. Looks like my season will have to wait another week while my hand heals.

Eric and company,
Who would ever think that such a day for Silverbacks, "Bull cans of the North," would be had not in the Delta Marsh, not in Pool 9, not on Lake St. Clair, and not on the Chesapeake, but in ALABAMA?

Congrats to your Thomas and friend. What a sight it must have been.

Several years ago I found a wild celery bed where we hunt and told Thomas if that stuff takes off we will have some of the best Can and Redhead hunting in the south. It took off...

That sucks... but... just remember... superglue and duck tape would have allowed you to hurry out to the blind after a slip up!

So I'm guessing he likes his new Citori? :)

What a great bird. Bummer on the cut, heal up fast and get out there.

I'm betting your hand will heal quicker after listening to a blow by blow account of your son's duck hunt. Congratulation, Thomas.

Sorry you were sliced. Most guys can relate in one way or another. Personally I've been in the ER more than a handful of times so just hearing the stories about it gives me butterflies in my stomach. At least stitches don't take you out of commission too long. Bloodstains in your shop are gonna clash with the clean, organized look and pristine machines I think...

Congrats to Thomas! Be sure to post where and when the bird was banded. Love to hear that stuff in contrast to sympathy inducing injury reports...

Good morning, Eric & Phil~

Another medical tip from the Northeast: The thumb that ran afoul of the Forstner bit in my drill press last week is healing well. No longer tender or in need of antibiotics, some of the dried, ragged edges of dead hide still snagged on clothing and such. So, a bit of 120-grit faired it off nicely....

Congratulations to your Prodigious Progeny, Eric!

Congrats Thomas - a banded bird is something to cherish so I hear. Sorry to hear about the hand Eric.

What is it he is wearing under his shirt and sort of like a turtle neck? Is it an old time "dickey" I believe they were called?

Hot Dog!!!!!!!! A banded can. All drakes at that,no flock shooting there. I take my hat off to you Eric for teaching him right.
Congratulations to you Thomas and your partner for doing it right practicing voluntary restraint.
I am proud of you guys.
Pops you're gonna have to be more careful, hope you heal fast.

Great stuff, those kids are living the dream. Heal that hand quick, get out there and show the youngsters how it's done.
