Tis the season... Pictures Added

What a beautiful area you are hunting, Troy. I sure hope you gave Pearl a scratch behind the left ear and just happened to find a milk bone in your pocket for her. My gosh, look at all that water! Congrats on the opener.

Good morning, Troy~

Great photos! Sure looks North Woods to my eye.

Do I see a muddy shoreline because your spot is tidally-influenced? I cannot ID the tall grass into which that Hen tried to escape - maybe one of the larger Spartinas ?.

All the best,

SJS

Thanks Al. For the past couple seasons now in addition to making the first retrieve, Pearl also gets a duck breast appetizer that night before her dinner. Seems only fitting and she apparently agrees. The lake is lower than past season's as rain has eluded us as well. But I am fortunate in comparison to your area. We'll both hope for a little rain.

Good morning Steve,

The north woods foliage is changing quick this season. It was beautiful to just sit and absorb the surroundings. My buddy Francis and I found this lake cove years back and it holds special meaning to us as we have had many memorable hunts here. The grass, I simply call swale grass as I do not now it's specific name but it does well it that little area but is not very prevalent in other areas of the lake. The cove is particularly shallow this year so Pearl and Kera had easy running in the shallows, something neither are very accustomed too. The eiders are rigged and ready, I will be sure to post their first float. Take care and have a safe season.

What a great setting for an opener. The dog work is truly the icing on the cake, and the corkers are obviously veterans of many a past hunt.
Have a great season!

Thanks MLB, the dog work is truly the icing. Would be difficult to go now without one by my side.

All the best, Troy

Thanks Tod and Greg, It's a great place to open up the season and seldom disappoints. Will be back up tomorrow for the upland opener, fingers crossed.

Troy,
Two things stand out to me besides hunting with your friend and your dog and your bagged birds: a) the cork decoys just look terrific; b) the north woods are a spectacular place to hunt in September/October. Thanks for the photos.

I happen to be flying this Sunday to northern Michigan to meet two friends. From there we will drive to northern Ontario to hunt ducks and grouse next week. I hope to share similar pics upon my return.

Thanks for sharing your hunt.
Larry
