Yes, these are not hunting preserve deer. Yes, this is a QDM area. We have also had one of the largest acorn crops on record this fall in norhtern Michigan. I give Ed, Jr much credit for making his shot using iron sights for the second buck of his hunting career. He was quite excited when he called, so much so that Karen though initially he had an accident and was calling the clinic for help, rather than just to let his father know he was successful! WE have some work to do on correcting the dangling tongue issue...

I'm in Ontario, Canada.

Thanks, the pup is mainly from a show dog bloodline but turned into a great hunting companion. Three years ago this week we almost put him down due to a brutal bacterial infection. Since he's recovered I've made sure to take extra days off this same week to get out on some special hunts. He picked up another six for me yesterday, including this one, the first one I've seen in the 8 years hunting this marsh.

These two came in September and October, but also the first of each that I had seen in the marsh.

Clinton,

Enjoyed your photo.

Some very good habitat there for a mix of wildlife. ANY day spent outdoors, with tools of the trade of a Outdoors person is a good one. So ya did good.

A very enthusiastic PA squirrel hunting friend of mine recommended CZ .22's to me years ago. He has quality firearms, and I was surprised at his recommendation of ."Very accurate, and functional for the price, I have three."

Long story short, it took many trips to the close by rifle range to get the results of the photo. Could I do it again? I dunno. What I did learn is clean the bore often, and keep it clean.

The rapid fire deal is my late uncle Frank telling me. "Get on target, fire and work the bolt as fast as ya can. Stay on target, and fire until the magazine is empty". Easier said than done. When I saw that target I looked skyward and said, Thanks uncle Frank.

Thanks to everyone that is posting on this thread.

Whole lotta Good Times & Good Food.

Shines a very positive light on hunting, and hunters during some otherwise dim times.

Two thumbs UP.

Our south zone (costal) opened Wednesday. I was able to get out this afternoon. Lots of black ducks, I got my 2 in the 1st half hour. Nothing else besides black ducks came in......until 2 minutes after legal shooting, a group of 20 geese appeared 20 feet over the marsh 30 yards in front of me, looking to land in my spot. After seeing me standing in my boat, they calmly swung around 80 yards or so, then came back at me from my right. And turned away about 40 yards from me. 3 about broke away to land, then thought better about it.[huh]
Where were they 10 minutes before? Oh well, was fun to watch the show anyways.

I will bet that that is where they were the previous night...did you see any preened feathers?

No feathers or sign, but this is a tidal marsh, so everything gets washed out with the tide. I agree I was in their spot

No Sunday gun hunting in NJ so I went deer hunting. First time I ever called one in. Had a doe out in field at 100 yards, he was staying just inside woodline watching her. I gravbed my grunt call, one long and one short grunt. He forgot about her and came right to 40 yards and stopped broadside.

I was admiring the engineering and workmanship in the marsh pins that I got with the sneakbox I acquired last year. I have to believe that these are similar to the pins that Steve Sanford made. How about it Steve --- did you make these?

I love it! I need a couple.

It's funny when I shoot black bellies I always think how you like them. It was a crazy day they were landing on a burm 3 feet from my boot, in the dark.
