And, yes the Canada, Snow/Blue and Generic Goose Swimmer all fit the Brant body - which is oversize so makes a nice "medium" goose - akin to Herter's old Model 81s. I want to paint one of the Snow/Blue types as an Emperor.


I'm in the middle of a bunch of Repair & Re-paints. I'm most excited about an Al McCormick Humpback (Black Duck, of course) that I just finished. All of the "proof" is still in the camera. Lots of boat stuff and a little bit of duck shooting keep getting in the way.

Thanks, Steve. Had all but one of my hens leave the shop, so, while my Esposa is recuperating from knee replacement, I figured that time spent in the dungeon would be of benefit. Keels, probably tomorrow, then a pair of sprig--not sure whether they will be mated or just two drakes.[angelic][smile]
 
I was fortunate to have some time to finish some birds this week. Last night I got to touch nine different decoys in stages. Most of them were getting close to finished. This set of birds just needs the bottoms finished. One of them will see action this weekend, one will accompany me on a youth hunt next weekend. It holds the ashes of a good friends yellow dog. I recently got a yella dog from this friend. I am hoping the new yellow dog retrieves a duck shot by my daughter over his old companion. I feel this set of birds maximized my current ability in form and paint

Haven't had time to work on it since that night. I had to go out of town for work but I'll be back tomorrow.

Me and my buddy planning on working on it this weekend
 
If referring to the coffee table it is a tropical wood with a name I can't pronounce or spell. I got it from a garage sale and I couldn't make out the entire name. It was long and unfamiliar.
Sorry I know I should know.

Nice work - I like how you carried the White on the drakes down onto the front of the keels - very sporty!


I'm completing a big batch of Herter's - mostly bodies that needed epoxy + Homer Coat and some paint. Most will get new heads from Autumn Wings.



These Blacks and a Hen Mallard are the over-size Model 72s:

These GWTs are the life-size Model 63s.

The drake has an Autumn Wings head; the hen has a Model 63 Bluebill head.

Both drake and hen Bluewings have Model 63 Mallard heads. I use fine sawdust (from my bandsaw) on the heads instead of the Homer Coat.
